2025 was a real rollercoaster of a year... and the "highs" made the "lows" more manageable. So here's a bunch of "highs" that happened this past year... with a heavy focus on hanging out with new/old friends, along with meeting some awesome people that I never thought I'd be lucky enough to meet in-person! I even included a picture of my coworkers and some of the student workers from my office from our #christmasparty2025🎄✨❄️!

Up Front

The guys in Up Front are some of my oldest and truest friends in the hardcore scene.   I can’t place where or when we actually met but I have to assume it was at some show at the Anthrax back in the late 80’s.   Most of the members of the band have done numerous other bands or record labels and been involved in hardcore in various ways.  These shots are from the CT Posi Fall Fest back in 2005 that also featured Bold, Outspoken, Follow Through, The First Step, Fired Up and a VERY young Have Heart.

I drove down from Boston for this show nearly 20 years ago now. It was well worth it with a bill that was stacked beyond belief. 
Newer bands at the time including Have Heart, Lion of Judah, Triple Threat and Fired Up played, as well as Bold, Outspoken and Up Front.
 There were handful of other bands on the bill that I can’t remember playing like Good Clean Fun, Follow Through, The First Step and Countdown to Life (I don’t have photos of any of them). Some of them probably did, but it was a very long show.
 There were a ton of old friends there and the newer bands that played were all great. We all know where Have Heart went from here.

Made a whole day field trip yesterday while in DC for a Verbal Assault reunion show.

If you are/were into hardcore from the 80s, you know the band Minor Threat and you know the iconic Dischord House porch photo taken in 1983. We got to visit yesterday and my buddy Jason Shorey summed it up perfectly in his post about it:

“The 4 of us on the steps had the trajectory of our lives formed by the man sitting in the middle. We got Straight Edge, but also the fact that you can be successful by doing things yourself with hardwork and unwavering commitment to your beliefs and standards of doing buisness.”

It was amazing to hang out and we were super fortunate to have Ian show us around. He was beyond gracious. A solid hour of stories.

Then we toured a record pressing plant thanks to a penpal from the 80s. Amazing facility. I was blown away. Cool to see his business exploding

Popped over to Georgetown to see the stairs from The Exorcist movie. I had no clue what this was but cool to see

Then dinner with more people I have not seen in over 30 years.

Then Verbal Assault. I’m tired today and my feet hurt but it was a perfect day. I love my friends.
