Video 1 ➡️ Compensation

Video 2 ➡️ Better Organization

〰️These two videos don’t just differ in hand position ✨

They also reveal a different way my body organizes movement.

In the first video, as hip extension increases, my left femur gradually drifts into slight external rotation.

This isn’t intentional ‼️

It’s simply a compensation strategy my body adopts when my current hip extension capacity can’t fully meet the increasing demand‼️

Instead of stopping the movement, my nervous system finds another solution.

〰️ In the second video, the support from my hands changes the organization of my thorax and pelvis.

Although I’m performing the same movement, the need for my left femur to externally rotate is noticeably reduced.

This is exactly why I enjoy practicing the same movement through different variations. 🔍

My goal isn’t just to complete the exercise.

It’s to understand under which conditions my body organizes movement more efficiently.

Lately, I’ve been paying particular attention to improving this left hip. 💡

My goal isn’t to gain more range of motion. It’s to allow my femur to move through hip extension without relying on external rotation as a compensation strategy.

For me, progress isn’t about performing more difficult exercises.

It’s about helping the body develop a better organization, one that no longer depends on old compensatory patterns ✨🧠

〰️ These three sequences have one primary goal:
To distribute movement across the joints, rather than asking a single joint to do all the work ✨

〰️ As I move my arms, I’m not relying only on the glenohumeral joint.

I’m paying attention to the scapulae maintaining smooth upward rotation, posterior tilt, and controlled protraction- retraction over the thorax. Because once the scapula loses its relationship with the rib cage, the shoulder starts compensating instead of moving efficiently.

〰️ I’m not trying to create more thoracic extension.

Instead, I allow the rib cage to expand and recoil with my breath, so thoracic motion is distributed across multiple segments rather than concentrated in one area.

〰️ I don’t try to “lock” my pelvis.

I use it as the mechanical bridge between my lower limbs and my trunk. Once the pelvis loses its orientation, the spine is forced to generate motion that should have been shared elsewhere.

〰️ I’m not squeezing my hips.

I’m allowing the femoral head to stay centered within the acetabulum, so the hip can express both mobility and stability at the same time.

〰️ My supporting foot isn’t there just for balance.

It’s where I receive the ground reaction force and transfer it through the ankle, knee, hip, pelvis, trunk and finally into my hands 💫

〰️ For me, these exercises are not about creating bigger movements.

They’re about creating a movement strategy where every joint performs its own role, and no segment is forced to compensate for another ✨

〰️ I think there’s something in these videos that is even more valuable than the movement itself ✨

Most people focus only on whether they can complete the exercise or not 🎯
But the body is constantly giving us information throughout the movement 🧠

〰️ If your neck is tensing unnecessarily, if your breathing starts to lose its flow, if you find yourself clenching your jaw or if your shoulders begin creeping toward your ears; your body may be trying to tell you something ☑️

〰️ Maybe the load is a little too much. Maybe the range of motion isn’t quite ready yet. Or maybe another part of your body has started asking for help 🔍

That’s why, when I practice, I don’t focus only on the movement itself.

I pay attention to how my body behaves during the movement ✨

Because awareness is not something that appears after the movement is finished.

It’s the ability to stay present within the movement,
to notice the subtle signals your body is giving you and to listen when those signals need to be heard 🙏🏽

〰️ Sometimes progress doesn’t come from moving on to more difficult variations; it comes from learning to hear the whispers of your body a little earlier 💫

Because the body is always speaking to us.

The question is:

Are you really listening while you move ⁉️✨

〰️ Same movement, Same principle. A different question ❓

Both tools demand the same thing on the way into pike, transversus abdominis and obliques hold pelvic neutral, hamstrings lengthen eccentrically, the spine enters flexion without losing segmental control. Lumbar vertebrae move in sequence, not as one block 🦴

〰️ But when the surface changes, the question changes 💡
Cabbar has wheels. No friction. Each leg can move independently, this forces the adductors and deep hip stabilizers to manage asymmetry in real time. The neuromuscular system makes a new decision at every millimeter⚡

〰️ On the gliding discs, the surface is more predictable. But now I’m working closer to the ground, the moment arm lengthens, the demand on the posterior chain increases 🔥

Two tools. Two different error tolerances. Both ask the same question, where does control end and compensation begin ❓‼️

〰️ 3 years ago I did this movement for the first time. Thank you Gizem @gizem_cercioglu for inspiring me to come back to it 🤩
