$✨12 Weeks ✨On July 26th I got a call around 7:15am from Mom while at work that said she fell down the stairs and she couldn’t move. She ended up with an acetabular fracture (hip socket) and we were transferred to another hospital for ortho trauma surgery. We were lucky to have had a great ortho trauma surgeon that considered to her anxiety, age, and medical status. Together, we created a plan individualized to her and took the non-surgical option, either way we were told 12 weeks of toe-touch weight bearing (non-weight bearing according to Mom lol) and she probably wouldn’t be walking normally till Christmas. To make things a little more chaotic, the week she fell, my parents closed on our childhood home. More of that on the next photo! We went from 5 days in the hospital to a week and a half of acute inpatient rehab. From there she (and J) moved into the living room of my 1 bedroom apartment as their new home has 30 steps! Talk about poor timing! For 8 weeks we had a daily routine down of ADLs, PT exercises, and strolls outside until her week 9 follow-up where restrictions were lifted and we have begun PT 3x a week! Week 10 they moved back into their house with Dad and Mom is much more independent and mobile! My job puts things into perspective and throughout this journey I tried to think of all the things we are grateful for and blessed with. Ultimately, this is just a temporary bump in the road, even though it was hard to picture the end of the road 12 weeks ago. The next photos will show all that. Every step no matter how small was a blessing as well as God’s healing power and our friends and family. All of the cards, meals, flowers, care packages, visits, calls and texts meant the world. Those I called while crying to and from the hospital sleep deprived or texted at doctor’s appointments to calm my anxiety, I’m so lucky to have you! Mom, I am so proud of you. All the strength it takes to recover and fight your anxieties. To stay positive during those first few weeks. And while the road is still long (next stop hip replacement!) we are blessed to do all of this together 💜 To our home, for 27 years you gave us endless memories, happiness, and comfort.$
