We spend a lot of ordinary life learning how to suppress impulses, and that’s useful. We can’t wander around doing everything that passes through us. But suppressing an impulse is very different from pretending it never existed. As an actor, becomes an interest in the moment when you realise, I wanted to get away from you. I wanted to get closer. I wanted to shout. I wanted to look after you. I didn’t like that. I fucking loved that. You don’t have to act on every impulse. Just don’t wipe it out before you’ve even experienced it. #actortraining #londonactortraining #londonactors

You don’t need to do this alone! Actors, it’s a tough industry out there filled with wild highs and wild lows. While we tend to be a group of humans who thrive working in a company. We often find ourselves spending most of the time hustling individually. The endless emails, submissions, show reels, self tapes, rejection, networking….. You don’t need to do it alone. Join our tribe for a community of like minded, hustling actors, focused on developing their craft and their careers together. I knew the ”word” was a sword, but I didn’t know how to wield it. So I was taught to master the arts. It will always be a privilege to be Gods servant.

THE WONDERFUL MEN OF Body•Mind•Voice A little celebration of the men who train, play, sweat, fuck up, listen, risk and make work with us. Strength. Power. Sensitivity. Joyful playfulness. All of it belongs in the room. There is something pretty wonderful about watching men give themselves permission to be powerful without armouring themselves. To be sensitive without apologising for it. To listen deeply. To be ridiculous. To fuck up. To play. To be affected by another human being and allow that to actually mean something. We have some bloody wonderful men in the Body•Mind•Voice community. We love them. We welcome them. And we want more of them. Our next Meisner Stage 1 is currently a little female-heavy, so if you’re a male actor who has been curious about the work, this might be a particularly good moment to come and join us. Come and train your listening. Your instincts. Your emotional availability. Your body. Your imagination. Your capacity for connection. And come and play. WE WANT MORE MEN IN THE ROOM. A little celebration of some of the wonderful men of Body•Mind•Voice — and an invitation for more to come and play. Strength, power, sensitivity and joyful playfulness. Bring all of it. Don’t be afraid to bring all of who you are. Your joy, your heartbreak, your rage, your tenderness. This isn’t about asking men to be softer, nicer or more ‘vulnerable’. It’s about not cutting parts of yourself off before you walk into the room. As actors, the more of ourselves we have available, the more we have to play with. We love the men who train with us. We welcome them. And right now, we want more of them. Our September Meisner Stage 1 has a few spaces left. Come and listen. Come and risk. Come and fuck up. Come and play. www.bodymindvoice.co.uk Link in bio. #maleactor #meisner #meisnertechnique

Most actor training takes time to reveal your habits. Months. Sometimes years. Scene after scene. Character after character. Before you start to notice… “oh, I do that every time.” Meisner flips that. By stripping away text early on, we get straight to behaviour. Straight to instinct. Straight to you. Which means something very useful happens very quickly: We can see the difference between a character choice and your personal habits sneaking into everything And once you can see it… you can do something about it. Not eventually. Not after ten more scenes. Now. In the room. Within weeks. It’s efficient. It’s direct. It’s a little exposing. And when this work is led by a deeply experienced, rigorously trained practitioner… that’s where Meisner becomes something else entirely. Precise. Penetrative. Transformative. On the other side of that? More freedom. More range. More of you available to the work. Train with us — www.bodymindvoice.co.uk Training that rewires you from the inside out. (And don’t ask us… ask the actors who’ve been in the room.)
