On the way back from Hidden Lake, we spotted two bighorn sheep making their way through the meadow.

They seemed completely unfazed by everything around them, slowly grazing while the mountains rose dramatically in the distance. We had already gotten the view we came for at Hidden Lake, so running into these two on the way back felt like a pretty great bonus.

Pushing the limits to my lens to witness the decent to having to back up to get the portrait. What a difference 10 minutes makes!

Some of my favorite fall views along Going-to-the-Sun. Fall can happen fast here as weather can close the road temporarily or for the season at any time limiting access to some of these spots. One day will be 65 degrees and the next 30 and snow. Gotta take advantage of every opportunity to get up here before winter settles in.

If you’ve seen summer in Glacier, it’s time to plan a visit for next fall!

Ran into this bull moose while out on the Grinnell Lake trail in Glacier National Park! He wasn’t the biggest bull but that didn’t seem to bother him. It looked like he got into a fight with another moose, he had a big puncture wound in his hind quarter! #wildlifephotography #glacierlove #glaciernationalpark #photography #nikonz8

There’s something special about experiencing Glacier National Park on a chilly fall morning, especially when you get to share it with the people you love.

Emily, Sloane, and I were up at 6 AM in West Glacier, ready to drive the legendary Going-to-the-Sun Road and spend the day enjoying Montana. The morning air was crisp, the mountains were freshly dusted with snow, and that recognizable feeling of fall in the alpine was everywhere.

Our first stop was Logan Pass, where we headed out for a hike to the famous Hidden Lake Overlook. With snow-dusted peaks rising everywhere above the fall foliage it was one of those mornings that reminds you just how beautiful Glacier really is. After taking in the views, we boiled some water, brewed our coffee to warm up before continuing our adventure.

Next, we made our way along a portion of the iconic Highline Trail toward Haystack Butte. If you’ve ever hiked this trail, you know the views are something special, but experiencing them in the fall, with fresh snow on the surrounding mountains and the colors of autumn stretching across the landscape, made this day even more memorable.

We eventually reached a wonderful perch on Haystack Butte, where we settled in for lunch overlooking the winding Going-to-the-Sun Road and the incredible Highline Trail below us. Good views, warm layers, a little food, and time together in the mountains. Honestly, it doesn’t get much better than that.

These are the days I hope I never take for granted. The miles, the cold mornings, the coffee on the trail, and the opportunity to share these places with Emily and Sloane are what make every adventure worth it. Glacier has a way of making you slow down, look around, and appreciate just how lucky we are to experience places like this.

What a beautiful fall day in Glacier National Park. And as always, the best part wasn’t just where we went, but who I got to share it with.

Looking back at autumn as the season winds down in the park—portions of the alpine section have been closed since Sunday’s storm, but now we’ve got prime weather for bike access!

On the west side, the road is closed to cars from Avalanche to Logan Pass (hiker/biker access goes to Big Bend). On the east side, the road is fully open to Logan Pass.

Many Glacier is open, Two Medicine is closed for construction. Alpine sections of Going-to-the-Sun are typically closed around the third Monday of October, so plan accordingly!

realizing as the years go on how hard it is to choose one favorite season. the love i have for fall is matched year round🍂

not to mention that, while parking is wretched sometimes, it is another reminder that everyone visiting beautiful locations is the shared human experience (so, be nice to others in crowded spots. you’re there too🙂)

Today is one of my favorite days of the week which means it’s waterfall Wednesday. Today’s waterfall comes the beautiful state of Montana and its famous national park, Glacier. On the east side of the park sits this 35 foot waterfall. Saint Mary’s Falls. Sitting along the Saint Mary River just before dumping into Saint Mary Lake this is a beautiful waterfall and hike. We continued on to Virginia Falls as well(did you except us not to) but this was a great hike all in all. Remember when you explore Glacier to carry your bear spray and know how to use it. Be safe out there and enjoy the wild.

I’m pretty sure sunset hikes are my favorite. Less people, more animals. Could be a great slogan for GNP. Also, the way the bighorn stuck his tongue out at me, haha 🤣
