PIGMENT

Meeting and photographing Finn was an absolute pleasure. I am very glad they decided to be part of my portrait project about albinism. Even though, after a decade of working slowly on this project, I have learnt a great deal about this genetic condition, there are still so many nuances that I discover every time I meet someone new.
Finn has always been passionate about painting and possesses great creative talent. They told me that it is difficult to learn to paint because art teachers receive no education on how to teach people with visual impairments.

I love this portrait so much. It somehow reminds me of Exupéry’s Little Prince. Finn’s openness, kindness, creativity and approachability have deeply resonated with me.

Magnolia Stellata

My magnolia series will be available soon via my print store.

I loved photographing magnolias in the studio just few months ago. Their beauty is so fragile and they last only for a fleeting moment.

Close up portrait of Sarah with her eyes closed.

Poor depth perception is one of the visual problems that can affect people born with albinism. Depth perception allows us to judge how far away objects are and to understand the three-dimensional world around us. When this is reduced, everyday tasks such as using stairs, stepping off kerbs or walking across uneven ground can become more challenging. People with albinism often learn to adapt by relying on other visual cues and taking extra care when moving through unfamiliar environments.

Had a great time in @glassarchstudio documenting Charlotte of @joeandcharlotte creative process. Felt great to be back on the studio trying out some new lighting and working between stills and moving image. If your an artist, craftsperson or all-round passionate creative get in touch as well be continuing this series. Keep yours eyes peeled for the full short film release!
