A tea plantation in Argyll growing and processing rare Scottish teas.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I was lucky enough to visit @glencaladhtea a couple of days ago 🌱

An organic tea garden located on the west coast of Scotland, hiding at the end of a long, rocky road.
There are only a few places on earth that feel truly peaceful to me and this was one of them.

A small farm, looked after by Islay and her husband, surrounded by tea plants and the unforgiving Scottish weather.

In today’s society, where we are successful is measured in money and productivity, its people like Islay who remind me of what’s really important. Doing something you love and enjoy while also living in harmony with nature.

Tea is quite a tricky plant to grow even in its native environment, it takes a while to reach decent size and in Scotland it is very tricky to grow outside of poly tunnels.

I love the stubbornness and going against the odds, letting the plants grow outside regardless and therefore creating such a beautiful expression of the local terroir in a cup of tea.

On the tea list at timberyard10 now!

I was delighted to pick up The Leafies Pioneer Award on behalf of Tea Scotland on Friday at Fortnums in London, this award was for 'an exciting new region / producer demonstrating imagination and innovation in tea cultivation and manufacture' and for 'the wonderful teas coming out of Scotland!' 🙏🙌

Thank you to the Leafies International Tea Awards / UK Tea Academy & Fortnum & Mason, thank you also to Jane Pettigrew who won the Lifetime Achievement Award and has been an inspiration to me for decades. For 10 years our members have persevered to establish tea gardens in our marginal Scottish climates so this was a very special day !!

Wow that was a dreamy retreat……

Last weekend a fabulous group from across the isles met at Auchgoyle and we ran the hills, beaches & lochs under blue skys and golden sun, with grasshopper warblers reeling, cuckoos calling, willow warblers, orange-tipped butterflies and so many other beauties for company!

Drifts of bluebells and wild garlic fill the #rainforests and on #endangeredspeciesday I felt so privileged to have been running past #pinemarten scats, under the boughs that #redsquirrels scurry and along lochs that #osprey dive!

Our #retreats are made by the amazing people from our community whom we meet along the way:-

Islay @glencaladhtea whose stunning organic tea plantation and tea we sampled delighted all.

Nicola whose salads we munched upon and whose beautiful landholding we visited.

Michaela whose berries and salads we also used and whose gorgeous woodland garden we ran to.

Fiona and family at the wonderful @carryfarmlodges where we drank Eve’s #coffee and ate #cake and dipped in the azure sea .

Eve’s @argyllcoffee whose wildlife-friendly speciality coffee fuelled our days & literally made running possible for many!

Then there is @ingebosart whose art classes we gently relaxed into and have inspired many retreat guests to demand for purely running & art! We adore them and her and she makes our retreats!

And finally, the magical @kategrayyogaandayurveda without whom our retreats would be hollow. Her yoga and food are simply sensational.

Here’s to retreats, wildlife, beautiful people & this magical coast. 💚💜💙

Next residential retreats are in September-
4-7 and 18-21

Next day retreat Tuesday 24 June.

Message me and join us! 🏃‍♀️🤸‍♀️☀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🦆🦅🐓
