Today is Imperial Filth release day and I'm pretty happy to finally let go of this record. Shoutout to everyone involved in the process, I have so much love and appreciation for your incredible contributions. The band: @glennmilchem @annaruddick @agoldrules @liam.deak @leerose
Coproducer/mixer: Daryl Smith The art dept: @lydia_sam_planetta @loudur @maplefudge73 Label boss: @theerindonnelly Mastering: @audiosiege. Vinyl available at bandcamp and at the merch table. Play it loud.

"Blurton's ear for a riff/melody juxtaposition is second to none and throughout the album the band back this visionary songwriting with soul packed performances that really do conjure up the power and optimism of the late 70s/early 80s scene. Glenn Milchems superb drumming which couples with Anna Ruddicks lithe bass contributions in devastating fashion, is the basis on which all the good work is founded." Sentinel Daily

"This is a stacked batch of heavy rock jams, high octane and ready. Everything about this album feels fresh while pulling elements from classics. Imagine Sabbath, Priest and Reo Speedwagon splitting their DNA into an unstoppable clone of good time party jams." @monumentsinruin

"I am impressed by how the band manages to mix heaviness with a truly melodic sound. Like uptempo Sweet." Melodic Net

"Future Now has significantly upped the ante in terms of originality here. It's timeless rock - rooted in the past, yet entirely unconcerned with the trends of the present." Saitenkult

C & C Surf Factory filters the best of 60s surf style – think wet reverb, Fender amps and a stable of electric guitars – through the modern-day guitar wizardry and unimpeachable cool of founding members Colin Cripps (Blue Rodeo, Kathleen Edwards) and Champagne James Robertson (Dwayne Gretzky, Lindi Ortega, New Country Rehab). The two began working on instrumental guitar pieces in 2012, and took the project in a direction sharply away from the world of roots, country and blues of their main gigs.

Why surf rock? The genre spotlights the guitar as a melodic instrument, which provided two of Canada’s most in-demand slingers the irresistible opportunity to obsess over tone, history, playing styles and obscure musical acts (Hank Marvin and the Shadows and the Ventures, for example).“Ultimately, the direction was a byproduct of our love for low-end twang and a common interest in wanting to play songs without words,” says Champagne James.

C & C Surf Factory has grown to include Sly Juhas on drums, Ryan Gavel on bass (P Bass, naturally), and Chris Stringer on keys and percussion. The band played shows in between busy touring and recording schedules, and quickly became a hot ticket.

👁️‍🗨️Coming to Wavelength on October 24: @ianblurton ’s Future Now

Formed in 2019 as a way to play Ian’s debut solo record “Signals Through The Flames” Future Now has since released 2 LPs (Second Skin and Crimes Of The City) and are stoked to announce their 3rd LP the 10 song opus entitled Imperial Filth. It was co-produced by Daryl Smith (Godspeed YBE/Tricky Woo), who also mixed it and Ian (producer of Cursed 2/Weakerthans) and recorded at ProGold Studios in Toronto.

On the new record there are still traces of NWOBHM and Thin Lizzy worship but are now accented with Groundhogs type dynamics and a heavier prog influence than previous outings. The ranks of Future Now include scene vets guitarist/vocalist Ian Blurton (Change Of Heart/C’mon), drummer Glenn Milchem (Blue Rodeo), bassist Anna Ruddick (xCity and Colour) and guitarist Aaron Goldstien (Esplanola). They believe in tube amps, 4×12 cabinets and volume as a way to wash away the Imperial Filth.
