The Shakespeare Project of Chicago comes to Glessner House for one night only, to present a theatrical reading, with music, of the play Dear Rhoda, by David Ranney and Donna Russell, adapted by Peter Garino.

In the vibrant chaos of 1920s Chicago, Jerry and Rhoda find each other at the Dil Pickle Club—a bohemian haven for artists, radicals, and free thinkers. Drawn together by shared ideals and an undeniable connection, their love ignites. But as a devastating disease spreads, prejudice tightens its grip, and society teeters on the edge of change, will their bond endure? Inspired by the real-life letters of Chicago bookseller Jerry Nedwick and featuring iconic figures like Carl Sandburg, Clarence Darrow, and Fanny Brice, this captivating tale comes to life.

Free admission, but advance registration required as space is limited.

I forgot to post an August recap, so here is a belated August and September recap!

Such a fun event with @hawahospitality ! And ty @jorgcreates for the photos!

We had a blast doing a cross game event with @thechicagochessclub and @drinkmondaycoffee ! Two worlds collided and we raised >$200 for ANTI-GUN violence causes.

Thank you @urbanohana for allowing us to teach mahjong at your beautiful birthday party at the @glessnerhouse !

Our first the all-levels mahjong tournament was a blast. Thank you, everyone, for coming and participating!

Also very bittersweet to see one of our members @mycoo.mycoo leave for NYC 😿

What a blast to have matcha and mahjong at @match_a_chicago !

Our second time at matcha featuring Taiwanese mahjong! Shout out @justy2828 for leading this one!

Our most ambitious event @hai_bayo . This was such a rewarding experience to put together, and we learned so much from this. Can’t wait to try it again at some point!

Our second all-levels module tournament went without a hitch. Thanks everyone for participating!

Chicago history, architecture, and hospitality came together beautifully as we had the pleasure of hosting our September meeting at Glessner House, a Gold-Endorsed NCA Affiliate Member. Gathering in this beautifully preserved mansion was truly a dream, and the elegant atmosphere was made even more memorable by the enchanting music of harpist Renee Wilson. A true Chicago treasure, Glessner House is a must for tours, special events, and community programming!

Im so happy this home is still standing and in such good condition! It was built in 1887 and it looks different from the outside, but inside it’s incredibly warm and detailed! Getting to explore this piece of Chicago history was super cool! Thank you for having me @glessnerhouse it was a pleasure 😊
