As part of the newly and beautifully renovated Gl. Holtegaard, I was invited to create decorative art work for the panelling and the end wall of the main hall.

The task was to interpret the Vedbæk findings, among Denmark’s most significant Stone Age discoveries, which had been housed at the same building for more than four decades. People who 7,000 years ago lived, hunted, loved and buried their dead just a few kilometres from here.

My interpretation was built around threek recurring elements. The childlike and immediate quality of the line, reflecting the simplicity and directnessn found in the art of the period. The relationship between human and animal form, which appears throughout the original finds. And red ochre, which ties everything together. Ochre was the most important pigment of the Stone Age, documented in the Vedbæk graves themselves, and it represented blood, life and renewal.

The end wall of the hall is the heart of the interpretation: here I draw threads between Stone Age ornamentation and the structure of the DNA chain.
The most distant past and the most fundamental aspect of us as living beings.

Huge respect to Helmut Schlodder who for the carving / painting and @gilbert___gilbert for the beautiful woodwork!

Also a big gratitude to @bogobyggeindustri and @glholtegaard for the great collaboration

Nye billeder, nye sansninger

TAL R. 💥🎨🍎 I’m still riding the colour high. Every colour of the rainbow, stripes, dots, lines, wild sculptures and energy absolutely everywhere. I could honestly see this exhibition three days in a row and still want more. Add a walk through Gammel Holtegaard’s beautiful baroque garden, a bag full of apples picked straight from the trees and a lovely day with my art buddy Vibeke. 🍎❤️ Basically: ART + COLOUR + APPLES + GREAT COMPANY. My kind of cultural package deal. And Tal R… if anyone’s hosting dinner, please seat me next to him. I have questions. MANY questions. 😎 #TalR #GammelHoltegaard #ColourCrush #ArtEnergy #josinadecor
