POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday we looked at Paradise Lost, the one that got away from the Buzz album (see previous post) and today we're looking at another song that could have been.....

Taken from their 1998 debut album Step One, Love U More started life back in 1992 as a techno track (glow sticks at the ready 😂) for British techno group Sunscreen and released by Sony Soho Square, who took it to Number 23!
6 years later and the song was given a whole new lease of life when it became a stand out for Steps fans on their debut album. Although it was sadly never released as a single, we were treated to a video of the guys performing the number Infront of a blue screen complete with full (and complicated) routine for those of us that owned the Steps: The Video VHS 📼 😂 I remember rewinding this over and over again to perfect the routine in my bedroom and it's a shame it never saw a commercial release, as I think it would have done really well in the charts! I was so pleased to see the guys perform this live as part of a medley on the Party On The Dancefloor Tour 😍🎉

The ULTIMATE one that got away 💚🧡💛❤️🩷

STEPing into Monday with an absolute BANGER and one of my alltime favorite Steps songs...Paradise Lost 🔆 😎 🍹 Taken from their 3rd album Buzz, this song just hits hard everytime, this album is FULL of potential hits that could have been and this one is top of the list. I remember hearing it for the first time and my first thoughts been that it reminded me of the music from Sonic The Hedgehog 😂🎶 🦔 (Kylie's Slow also does this to me to 😂). I have no doubt that this would have been a massive hit for the guys, and was so pleased to finally experience it live when they performed it on the Party on The Dancefloor Tour....talk about edging 😂 they kept up waiting long enough 😂 Hopefully it makes an appearance on the next tour mashed up with Summer Of Love 😍

Hope you guys like my little fanmade mock up, no copywrite intended 😂😂😂😂😂😂 just a fan looking to share the love 💕

So, I hadn't planned on this been my first @officialsteps post since restarting the page, but concidering that today (August 24th) marks the 28th anniversary year (I know right what the actual... 🤯) of One For Sorrow, I just had to make it work.

New followers the page will soon realise my Steps obsession and if you love the greatest pop group ever, then keep following as there is ALOT more great content to come 😊

So let's rewind to 1998 and little teeny bopper me finishing school on Monday and going straight to medowahall with my best friend and my pocket money to lay claim on my own physical CD copy that I overplayed MASSIVELY! - like seriously, I still have it and the cd is scratched to pieces from over use 😂 The poster went up on the wall and the volume was turned up as I danced around my bedroom with my finger in the air recreating the iconic dance routine - good times! 😍

It was the third single lifted from their iconic debut album, Step One and debuted/peaked at (2) which at the time was their highest charting single (Do not mention Manic Street Preachers infront of me 🤣) and spent an impressive 5 weeks inside the top 10!

A great week for new music I bought 3 new releases that week, along with this iconic anthem I also bought:
(5) Honeyz - Finally Found
(20) Truce - Eyes Don't Lie (Underatted tune!)

Released: 1998
UK Chart Peak: 2

This is steptacular!!! Omg this is amazing.

Thank you @gingeinthecity for generating a fantastic animation of my Steps fairies using Dola AI that brings my original work to life. Thank you all so much for being so supportive.

This one really shines.

Good morning Pop Tarts! It's a big one here at Blue Raspberry Pop today, as I reach my landmark 100th post!!!! 🪅 🥳 🎉 The page has only been back about 6/7 (🤷🏻‍♂️😂) weeks, so it blows my mind that I'm already on my hundreth post 🤯 and I couldn't think of a better song to feature for it! 🩵 💙 🩵

My favourite video (and one of my favourite songs) from my FAVOURITE group....Steps! Released in 2000, and taken from the Number 1 album Steptacular, Deeper Shade Of Blue smashed into the singles chart at (4) and spent 10 weeks on the chart. It sold over 200,000 copies and was certified silver 🩶
The video to this is ICONIC! showing us a darker side to Steps whilst still giving us that poptastic, sugar high that we craved!
It was re-released on a special edition 12" vinyl in 2024, and reached Number 7 on the Official Vinyl Singles Chart, 24 years later! - you can always count on us Steps fans! My copy is currently framed and hanging on my vinyl feature wall and looks STUNNING! 🩵 💙

It was a great a week for Steps on the chart that week, not only did Deeper Shade Of Blue bestow (excuse me lord Bridgerton 😂) them another Top 5 hit, but further down the chart Say You'll Be Mine/Better The Devil You Know experienced a sales spike and climbed back up to Number 59 in its 17th week on the chart! 😍

Released: 2000
UK Chart Peak: 4

So happy and full of joy that I found the perfect image of Caz and Neeta from @thestepsmusical reposted by @glitterstepspod to base another drawing off of. I love these heart aprons they look so cute and wonderful.

It’s another quickie but still fun to get on paper. I hope you all enjoy.

Some thing are, Better Best Forgotten..... But one of those things isn't Steps! 😂😍

Released in 1999, BBF was the bands 5th and final single release from their debut album, Step One. It entered the charts at (2) missing out on the top spot to Boyzone's When The Going Gets Tough and spent an impressive 19 weeks on the chart!

Some interesting Steps related, POPTASTIC trivia for you from this week in pop.... 🤓

Firstly (as I suspect most Steps fans were? ) I was gutted this missed out on giving the guys a second number one. However, elsewhere in the chart, there was victory to be had, as Steps out sold arch nemesis; Manic Street Preachers (who had kept Steps off the top more than once!) and The Beautiful South (Who blocked Steps' debut album Step One from hitting the top) they charted at 5 and 12 retrospectively and pop justice was finally served!

Next, Better Best Forgotten wasn't the only Steps track in the chart that week. Previous Number 1 single Heartbeat/Tragedy was enjoying a long run, still riding high at Number 20 in it's 18th week!!!!

And finally, further down the chart at Number 34, sat a new entry for Q.F.X with Say You'll Be Mine - a title that Steps themselves would later take into the Top 10! - spooky!

P.S, Loved the 'new track' Why on this CD too!

Released: 1999
UK Chart Peak: 2

An absolute ICONIC entry to Blue Raspberry Pop today, with a song and band that 100% helped shaped my life.
It's time to begin - now count it in, 5-6-7-8!

Its hard to believe that at the start of 1997, the names Claire, Ian, Lisa, Lee & Faye were nothing more than just that. Who would have known that they would become huge household names and be such a massive part of not only my teeny bopper years, but stay with me my whole life and be the centre of so many special memories.

My first memory of Steps, is OFC 5, 6, 7, 8! I remember it was a Saturday morning and we were going on holiday (probably to some Haven Park - which would later be my first job! 😂) and I was watching one of my favourite Saturday morning programmes - The Chart Show on ITV (anyone remember it?) It was great for catching up on all the latest chart action, music videos and new/future release. This particular morning it flashed up with a "New Release" - a song not out yet, but a taster of a potential future hit? it was 5, 6, 7, 8! As the opening instrumental played it instantly grabbed my attention, I was hooked! I watched, as these 5 perfect popstars sang and danced the infamous routine (luckily I was taping the show so I was able to rewatch it over and over and learn it! 😂). I couldn't WAIT for this to come out and buy it so I could play it on REPEAT - and I really did! 😂

Released in 1997, 5, 6, 7, 8 entered the charts at 18! CRIMINAL!!!!! However, (wheter people wanted to admit it or not!) they must have loved it, because the song refused to leave and in it's 8th week, hit it's peak of (14) and spent 18 weeks on the chart! - It's hard to believe there was a time when a Steps fan only owned one single! 😂

Since then, I've grown up with Steps been as much a part of my life as oxygen 😂 I devoured every single, album, VHS, DVD, concert - even the pasta! 😂
It was through watching them that I choose my own path in performing and have spent 20 years since singing, dancing, acting and loving every minute!
In 2017, I got the biggest shock ever when I was set up and got to sing with them on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway - best night ever!

Over the weekend I decided to do this piece, as just another moment of creativity, after listening to the latest episode of @glitterstepspod discussing their amazing cover of Chain Reaction. The interviews were also really good.

For this piece I challenged myself to see what I could do using only a packet of 12 short colored pencils I got from a church event while still using micron pens for the outlines as usual. I’m thankful I even got any meaningful color from those cheap pencils. I was only curious.

Then I cut the pieces, glued the stands up, and put it all together as another 3D work of art. I hope you all enjoy!
