🌱 Tree Planting Successfully Completed in Fajara!

Yesterday, @global_climate_vision successfully concluded the first phase of our Fruit for Life Project in Fajara.

Together with our dedicated volunteers and partners, we planted trees that will provide shade, improve the environment, and benefit future generations.

This achievement would not have been possible without the passion, hard work, and commitment of every volunteer who gave their time and energy. Your contribution is helping build a greener and healthier Gambia.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, donated (all the way from Portugal through @planetcaretakers - huge thanks!) and believed in this vision. This is only the beginning - more communities and schools will benefit as we continue expanding the project across Gambia 🇬🇲.

Together, we are planting hope, restoring nature, and creating a lasting legacy.

🌱 Fruit for Life is moving.

Over the next 30 days, @global_climate_vision, in partnership with @planetcaretakers_gam and @planetcaretakers, will be planting fruit trees across 4 schools and 1 community in The Gambia.

📍 Upcoming planting dates:
25 July 🍊 Fajara
1 August 🥭 Jiffin & Pakalinding
8 August 🍊 Jassong
15 August 🥭 Kaiaf
22 August 🍊 Minteh Kunda

This is part of a bigger vision: to grow toward 1 million fruit trees in communities and school grounds, creating food, shade, environmental education, and climate resilience for future generations.

Right now, the team is buying small fruit trees ready to plant, while working toward building the nursery capacity needed to scale this project sustainably.

And here is the beautiful part:
🌳 Each donated tree receives the donor’s name.
A living, rooted in the soil, growing for years THANK YOU.

We have now launched the GoFundMe to help fund the next planting phase: first phase will be focused on fruit trees. Donations will then secure transport, tools, soil preparation, nursery development, and follow-up care.

Donate, share, or sponsor a tree.
Let’s plant life, together.

Organizámos iniciativas em simultâneo, entre vários países, no mesmo dia e mesma hora, por forma a mostrar que mesmo a mais pequena e menos numerosa ação, conta bastante para o todo! 🇵🇹 🇭🇷 🇲🇼 🇲🇽 🇬🇷 🇳🇵
@planetcaretakers_nep @planetcaretakers_mwi

Before. During. After.

This is what collective action looks like.
Last Sunday in The Gambia, 23 people from the community came together with @global_climate_vision to clean a forgotten field in Abuko South.

From 9am to 3pm 4.6 TONS of trash were removed.
Just hours later, that same land was being used as a football field again.

No headlines. No spotlight. Just people showing up for their home.
This is what grassroots climate action really looks like.

We’re honoured to collaborate, partner and support this NGO for a cleaner, healthier, more dignified planet: everywhere.
Proud to be Planet Caretakers Gambia!!🇬🇲 Stronger together! @global_climate_vision @planetcaretakers_gam @planetcaretakers @ourplanet_eu

Let this inspire you. Change is not a dream. It’s a decision.

Increasing the diversity within production systems will help spread risks.

How to increase diversity within production systems in fish farming:

1️⃣ Combining different types of production (crop, forest, fish and livestock) in different ways.
2️⃣ Increasing the numbers of different species, populations, varieties or breeds.
3️⃣ Increasing the use of materials that are themselves genetically diverse such as crop multilines.

Adaptation action can be conducted at landscape level.

It also challenges the long-term realization of the objective of eradicating hunger, requiring the maintenance of significant safety nets and safety ropes, as well as additional investments to cope with additional risks.

These actions will need to be supplemented by disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management (DRR/DRM) strategies to address the risks of extreme events.

A change in the approach to disaster risk reduction is required in order to prioritize the reduction and proactive management of risks rather than reacting to events.
