POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One year ago on the 12th of June @globaldancesuspense @auralconduct and @a.madsociety organized an intimate gathering of global dance experimentalism at V11.

Rather than posting in the moment, we took some time to process this event and decided to upload the footage taken as archive material. Every artist showed what they stand for. An act of liberation. Sound as a healing process.

TONTO - ONE MAN BAND - AMPLIFIED DISTORTION

Tonto came out of the most perverted wet dreams of Big Black, Zu, and Death Grips. You can call it Noise, but it’s groovy like Hip-hop but raw like Punk. Tonto is a no-guitar one-man band, with drumset and voice amplified in a jungle of distortions and digital artifacts. You get some sexy blast beats but also African polyrhythms at times, a lot of bumbum-cha like ghettoblasta and occasional ass-shaking straight 4/4. Tonto is a musician through a computer, like a monkey in a spaceship.

PING-EN HUNG AKA MAŁA GULA
EAST MEETS WEST - JAZZ NOISE

Born in Taipei (Taiwan) in 1993, the electronics artist, bassist, and composer Ping-En Hung has been residing and studying in Amsterdam since 2016. Having graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with a bachelor’s and master’s jazz performance degree in 2022, she is now pursuing studies in the live electronics master’s degree under Jos Zwaanenburg.

Drawing inspiration from her extensive experience in live jazz performances across Europe, Ping-En utilizes improvisation as a powerful tool for experimentation. Her foundation in jazz strongly influences her work, while her current focus on electronic music showcases her creativity in noise and sound design genres. LS.GATEKEEPER - UNHINGED - CRAWL PUNK

LS.GATEKEEPER exploded onto the NL scene in mid-2024 with a unique blend of hardcore, post-punk and alt-rap. Fronted by Lui Surreal’s Brit-Punk vocals, that oscillate between screeched fry screams and devastatingly slammed lows, their performances are both theatrical and unhinged. Lui often leaving his place on stage to rally audience energy, screaming, dancing, crawling and rolling in their midst. The band channels an ultra-distorted wall of noise, driven by distorted riffs and Bobby Boycott’s relentless D-beat drums. Amidst this storm, there are slow-motion moments of vulnerability and raw emotion. This dynamic interplay of high-intensity and intimate breaths makes for a turbulent and tidal crowd experience! In under a year, the band has been booked to play festivals like Le Guess Who and Eendracht Fest. As they venture boldly into 2025 a debut EP & tour simmer on the horizon.

AURAL DANCE SUSPENSE 🪝 🕸️ ⚓️
Join us on 12 June at Rotterdam’s inner harbor area aboard the V11 for a Thursday night across live experimental music and performance art.

With AZ OOR, who presents The Shipyard, featuring scenography, glitching sounds, and voice channeling the haunted acoustics of colonial modernity, marine abduction of life and memory, and their reclamation;

Percussionist Mangruv with producer The Social Lover, disclosing their rhythmic and icily entangled improvisations straight from the studio onto the floor, playing consciously with tonality and tension;

Ratri Notosudirdjo with a wayang performance titled The Banish Lands that intricately threads migrational histories through movement and shadow puppetry, setting a surreal Bahasa tale where a politician becomes possessed;

And ending with Ghaliz & Manirastar, who play a highly concoctive mix of Indonesian diaspora electronica, hand percussion, and vocal techniques that include Dhrupad and throat singing.

Music starts from 20:30 onward, until midnight.
Tickets are 10,-, available at the door and on the V11 website (link in bio).

Powered by Derozan’s Global Dance Suspense and Luke Cohlen’s aural conduct, fusing organising forces for the first time.

For the very first live show we are thrilled to welcome you at BAR40. This space has progressed into a spot for the bizarre and beautiful. From tiny office to sanitary dump to an intimate bar. A place that likes to adapt, just like Global Dance Suspense.

Back in 2020, Derozan began a radio residency called Global Dance Suspense at Stranded FM in Utrecht. The idea of the show came as a way to experiment with non-Western music that fringes our world. Global Dance Suspense captures the emotional rawness of sound with an idiosyncratic approach. Skewing away from popular Western music, GDS manages to uncover suspenseful dance rhythms and complexities by world building and in depth research into the format.

We never do it on our own, that's why we believe in MAD SOCIETY. They stand for chaotic & balanced energy and want to give space to those that need to be seen in different atmospheres. This is communicated to the public with images & sound, with live perfomances, expo's and everything that can be linked to it. A storytelling party that interacts with the public.
