@ishi____vu: DIALOGUE WITH STRANGER VIA ULTRACUTS, W/ BLENDED TRACKS - an 'answerless' interview where these questions echo and speak for themself on @hkcronline is now available to relisten on our networks.

“I worked with a lot of ideas, both mixes and answers. But the questions are so suggestive, answers very easily come across as tryhard or begin to conflict with the format by continually grabbing attention. The sparse questions alone actually instead target the listener, or suggest the answer in the music...”

Ishi Vu asked S(GBA) to ask the interview questions in a vocal recording to embed into the mix while music is the answer. He did however compile some answers in text. It reads a little like a conversation.

Do you dream?
It must happen again.

Do you d-r-e-a-m?
For an everlasting possession.

Is there anything you regret doing?
Everything I can reflect on.

Is there ANYTHING you regret doing?
None. Only accept.

When do you get nervous?
Almost never.

When do you get nervous?
When it's real.

When do you get nervous?
When we sacrifice our lives to make it real.

Where do you dance?
In Limbo. Trance.

Why can't it be just magic all the time?
Because we never fully surrender.

Why can't it be just magic all the time?
The eternal Love is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and it shall thrust out the gloom from before thee; going: "Destroy it."

When you close your eyes, and look around: what do you see?
Turn to the sun: A wall of flame that is liquid and pouring through flesh.

Is play always a matter of context?
From innocent libido it is the pure soul. In general, only fear of annihilation.

Are you leaving, or are you coming?
Coming.

Tell me: what can you spend a lifetime with?
A flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Are you going home with your music, or are you going away?
Home.

IS MUSIC TRIUMPH? AND WHO'S WINNING, AND WHO'S LOSING?
Music is a defiant breach against the terms of service. It defies syntax and goes past all our filters. We are constantly losing, in a positive direction. Thank you for reading these silly Talk Talks. VALE TUDO.

Really happy to be back on @hkcronline today 5pm - 6pm CET with a special one: @ishi____vu

I discovered the young Sweden-based producers album "La Luz" in a @bandcamp Daily blog post. Since I listened to the album from beginning to end without noticing, I finally wrote to him one day to ask for an interview and mix.

At my request, he instead asked me to record my questions so he could embed them into the mix. This put me, the interviewer, in a new role, also that of a performer. Not on a stage at a panel or something, but where my voice would dock with the music. So I was looking for a creative solution.

Listening closely to "La Luz," my creativity spit out a different set of questions. He calls them "suggestive" questions, which is very accurate.

So the mix he made has vocal questions and his music as the answer, which „very easily come across as tryhard or begin to conflict with the format by continually grabbing attention“ and right he is. So music does conflict with the questions. The question is a bit like a transient of a soundwave and his selected track the tail and „sound information“.
What's special about this mix is my approach to the questions, because the task was different for me this time. I wasn't supposed to come up with leading questions to get someone to reveal something about a creative workflow. I had to design questions that fit the music, for an "answerless interview" as Ishu Vu calls it. This format allowed me to engage with an artist, and I think that's what some of us want when we read about artists or hear about how someone works or where they draw their inspiration from. We want to look inside their heads, we want to be in a studio or next to them when they're producing, and watch exactly how they do it.

And this experiment at least showed me, the interviewer, a contemporary version of how he works and even a little bit who he is.

Enjoy. Definitely someone to keep watching ❤️🤘🏻

🍥 ishi vu 🍥 became one of my favorite producers when i stumbled across his ‘Green is The Colour of Love’ over Lockdown 1... and this track, 🍥 This Is Your Life 🍥 from his most recent debut album, La Luz, proves it. Released on April 30th on @different.recordings / @glum_trigger , La Luz is an unworldly piece that experiments across electronic pop, 1980’s post-rock and chronicles feelings of longing emotional attachment to nightlife. He describes the track as “an empathy bomb of a ‘lost levels’ rave anthem” @ishi____vu 🤍

MUSIC FIRST – Swedish @ishi____vu’s debut LP 'La Luz' is finally out there for you all to enjoy.

The Stockholm-based producer, pushing the boundaries of electronic experimental, charting a course between the dancefloors of 2019 and the dark echo of 80's post-rock, has just released one of the best post-rave / afterparty records written in recent times.

'La Luz' is available on vinyl LP and where ever you stream your music. Go catch it.
