One great game can change everything for a developer!

At PAX West, the Boss Rush crew discusses how Motion Twin's Dead Cells grew from a PC favorite into a major hit on Nintendo Switch, earning even more attention with its physical release.

The conversation also explores how a studio's reputation can shape expectations, comparing the success of Dead Cells with MercurySteam's work on Metroid Dread and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Every game could be someone's favorite, even the ones critics and fans didn't enjoy!

At PAX West, Edward Varnell talks with Gen Moonen, Sarah Moonen, and Matt Storm from “Fun” and Games Podcast about their positive approach to gaming, celebrating games of all kinds, and the importance of personal recommendations.

The group also discusses Side Quests and how Edward covered the often-maligned Metroid: Other M, proving that a game's reputation doesn't determine whether someone can love it.

Sometimes, all it takes is a friend recommending a game to discover your next favorite.

What if a puzzle game and a space shooter came together in one addictive experience?

At PAX West 2026, Edward Varnell, Gen Moonen, Sarah Moonen, and Matt Storm from Fun and Games discuss Abyssal Merge, a unique indie game that combines fish-matching puzzles with space invaders-style shooting.

With its simple concept, dual gameplay, and a passionate two-person development team, this is the kind of game that makes you lose track of time.

The group also reflects on classic games like Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure and why more games should combine puzzle and action gameplay.

Our first PAX west was an absolute delight 💜

It’s a crazy, often dark, world out there, but we’re so grateful for good friends who inspire us, games that make us feel deeply and see the world from a different lens… and lots of good food 🫶🥰

Oops I’m finally posting my photo dump from PAX West in Seattle.
I truly love my friends, everyone who has made my life infinitely better. This trip made me feel all different types of ways; from going to the MSF (Doctor’s Without Borders) Mixer, having biscuits way too early in the morning, being invited to dinner and hanging with the DreadXP crew, wandering to a stationary store, to even meeting a precious Frenchie. My friends and who I’ve met through this crazy life has erased so many bad memories, I feel loved and welcomed in a way that I never believed I could be. A creature who found a home 🖤

PAX West 2026 has come and gone. Matt, Sarah and Gen had an absolute blast! They are so excited to share our highlights from it in an upcoming episode but for right now it is time for us to share their picks for Game of Show!

@sarahmoonen’s Game of Show is @abyssalmerge from @time_flies_studios. Suika game on the bottom and space invaders on the top, this game had Sarah coming back a few times a day to continue trying to get high scores and unlock different power ups. She’s already downloaded the public playtest and is back out on the ocean fighting off the horrors.

@gnoisegenerator’s Game of Show is Rebounder from ThirtyThree and @aggrocrab. A precision platformer in a run-down sci-fi setting. With a crisp, classic comic book aesthetic, smooth traversal, and plethora of secrets to explore, we’re excited to discover more about the game and its world when it releases next year.

@dj_stormageddon’s Game of Show is Wrestle Story from @tictocgames! This is Matt’s second time getting hands on with this one & it’s just as delightful as the first time. A game that has a deep love for both wrestling & turn-based RPGs. Funny, colorful and a blast to play.
