$What happened to my 90 Day Career Break? Well, it’s Day 237 and I’m almost 8 months into this new season and life. Fellow mid-life survivors, how’s it going for y’all? I spent 16 years working super hard for others. Doing work that I lent my magic to because it was my job to. I always grow to love what I work on, but this season I learn to balance survival with doing work I actually really love and want to say yes to. 🥳 I’ve planned and launched a whole marketing campaign and content strategy for a social enterprise @heartbid.sg while working with a remote design and tech lead and organising the resources for it. Scored some great wins for them on the social media and fundraising fronts. All within 2 weeks of being roped in. Worked on social media video projects and did end to end development of concepts, shooting and editing of videos for brands (not as a creator with my face in it). Wait, what? I did that?! Yes, and many times too. Helped inject a new perspective, drove strategy, and improved internal and external comms between client and agency team for a national level Scheme with my friends at @gloosingapore as an account and project manager on a fractional basis. All while continuing to output content every single week for me and growing my content creation monetisation stream and signing up for @bloomr.sg accelerator. I’m proving to myself everyday that I’ve always brought the magic. My identity isn’t tied to anything, not my roles, and not even my work. It is tied to the way I choose to live. The way I never let a bad day turn into a bad year. The way I learn to do things I find hard to, even letting go, slowing down, and admitting I could be wrong about things. The way I can live big and also start from 0 over and over. It gets worse until it gets better, every time. I just realised just how many of you are waiting for updates on my mid-life, career break, self employment diaries and reflections. It can get lonely out there and I really want you to know, you’re not alone. Let’s keep talking about it. 🤍💙♥️ Also, thanks @gnomenbow.
