Today is the anniversary of Splintered Metal Sky, our industrial-fuzzed out opus inspired by the rhythm and drone of NYC

Like most of our albums, the artistry of Splintered Metal Sky goes beyond White Hills. It took a mastermind of exceptional talents to bring this unique angular vision to life. We’ve been so lucky throughout our career to meet and work with artists operating on a higher plane. This inspires us to reach out and beyond- which we believe is the point of art- and life

So much love, admiration and appreciation go out to….

Jim Jarmusch guitar and theremin on Illusion and C:Construct

Yasmine Hamdan vocals on Rats

Simone Marie Butler vocals on Honesty

Jim Coleman synths and samples on Numbers and C:Construct

And extra shout out to Yasmine for planting the idea of inviting collaborators❤️

Recorded and Mixed at Studio G with Jeff Berner
Mastered by Bob de Wit
Album Artwork by Johnny Brewton
Photos by Ebru Yildiz
Released by God Unknown Records -Thanks Jase!
Distributed by Cargo
Live video concert shot at BC Studios by Karen Nourse and Zachary Bennett and recorded by Martin Bisi
Splintered Metal Zines created with the help of Charles Goldman at Grid Space

We are avid music lovers and listen to and are inspired by a wealth of music, but safe to say Splintered Metal Sky was informed by industrial innovators Einstürzende Neubauten and SPK, the avant-garde post-punk of Tuxedomoon and the dub-electro of Cabaret Voltaire

If this album were a baby (and it is one of ours) we’d describe it as a raw, feral beast that shouldn’t be left alone with pets or other small children

Other unrelated thought: what if NYC delis had babies instead of cats?

I have a new album out at the end of the month.

I’ve watched Andrei Tarkovsky’s film Stalker so many times over the years, and after watching it a few times recently, I thought about writing some music inspired by it. So, here it is - Xeeland - Laws & Triangles.

Single out now! 'I Need Your Fire' out on all streaming services + the full album from Bandcamp @ dezdare.com 🤘

"Dez Dare returns with an unexpectedly empowering and mood-lifting batch of garage and psych rock anthems... from the melancholy found in the winds and strings of tearjerker "You Woke Up On My Side Of Time" into the Blurt-adjacent dangling post-punk of "I Need Your Fire", Smallman's outlook seems much more hopeful... The days might be wild and blind, but there's still hope." The Wire

Out on God Unknown via Cargo Independent Distribution
