Navratri 2026: What do the nine forms of Maa Durga teach us about life? 🌺

Sometimes, the moment your idea starts growing, resistance appears.
In this reel, I explore the final four forms of Navdurga as a journey we can all recognise: Maa Katyayani reminds us to stand up for what we’re building. Maa Kalaratri represents moving through negativity. Maa Mahagauri brings peace after the struggle. And Maa Siddhidatri represents what becomes possible when we keep going.

Struggle → courage → peace → possibility.
Save this for a day when you need to remember that a difficult chapter is not the whole story. ✨

Pitru Paksha has always carried a profound meaning for me.

In the Hindu tradition, Pitru Paksha is a sacred period dedicated to remembering our ancestors, our pitrus. It is a time for gratitude, remembrance, prayer, shraddha, and tarpan, acknowledging that our life did not begin with us. We are part of a lineage extending far beyond what we can see.

Last year, during Pitru Paksha, I happened to be in Bodh Gaya doing a 20-day Vipassana retreat.

I believe it was around the sixth day of the retreat. I was sitting alone in the shunyagraha, meditating, when the mind became extraordinarily still. I entered a state of deep absorption, accompanied by an immense sense of peace and bliss.

And in that moment, my thoughts went toward my ancestors.

I remember thinking:

If there is any pain in my lineage, any suffering carried by my pitrus, any burden somehow flowing through the generations, let me take some of it. Let whatever peace, merit or goodness exists in this moment be offered to them.

It wasn’t something I had planned. It simply arose naturally from that state of meditation.

What happened next has stayed with me.

The very next day, I became extremely sick.

So sick that for a period of time I could barely even drink water.. Coming immediately after that meditation, during Pitru Paksha, the timing felt extraordinary to me.

Was there a connection?

I don’t know.

And perhaps experiences like these aren’t meant to be explained too quickly.

Vipassana teaches us to observe reality as it is, without immediately creating stories around our sensations and experiences. So I cannot say that I somehow absorbed the suffering of my ancestors.

But I also cannot forget the sequence of those two days.

For me, it became a powerful reminder of what Pitru Paksha represents.

Our ancestors live within us in many ways, through our bodies, our families, our memories, our conditioning, our culture, and the consequences of countless lives and choices that came before ours.

🙏 To the pitrus who came before us.

May they be at peace.

And may whatever goodness arises through our lives be shared with them.
