Godfrey’s Bakery and Café, located on the ground floor of the Meeting House Hotel at 421 W Broad St in downtown Falls Church, Virginia, offers a European-style bistro atmosphere and fresh pastries.

We stopped in for coffee and dessert one afternoon, and the café made a lovely first impression, with fall decorations and a cozy fireplace. The Bombe Vanille and Pistachio Raspberry Ronde were rich and made with high-quality ingredients, though the service could have been more attentive. Overall, the desserts were excellent, and a little more care with service and cleanliness would make the experience even better.

The Purple Duck has entered the fruit aisle… sort of. 🟣🦆🍎🍊

A little illusion. A lot of dessert. Zero complaints.

Field note: investigate everything that looks suspiciously delicious.

I popped in late one night for a bite with my toota, and the place was so peaceful. I especially loved the layout and how cozy it felt inside. I will be back to try some of the pastries next time and vibe to the live jazz 🎼

Dinner at @godfreysbakerycafe was truly a delicious time!

The outdoor seating in the back was the perfect vibe for a warm summer night, and you could tell everything was made and prepared with care.

Order a bear claw order a sticky bun, ordered an croissant and ordered a blueberry cheese danish. $29 and change. Got a stale Kouign-Amann, some kind of muffin, a blueberry muffin, and a stale almond croissant. Watched the woman ring it up, pointed out in the window which pastries I want my bad for not looking in the bag and doing her job for her got home and opened up. Never going back. Sad.

Here is my third watercolor painting - “Meet Me at Godfrey’s” (9x12”) - that I did as part of this month’s Falls Church “Scenes of the City” Plein Air Festival. The festival concludes on Saturday morning, September 26, on the Falls Church City Hall grounds, 300 Park Avenue (next to the farmers market). That morning, there will be a quick draw competition as well as an opportunity to see my work and many other artists’ work from the festival! @fallschurcharts @godfreysbakerycafe #fallschurchva #fallschurchpleinair2026 #pleinairartist

Have you ever tried Godfrey’s in Falls Church?

This beautiful restaurant is connected to The Meeting House hotel and has the cutest patio, incredible pastries, and such a delicious brunch menu. The dulce de leche pancakes were absolutely to die for!

The story behind the restaurant makes it even more special. Chef Godfrey is originally from Jamaica and has worked as both a schoolteacher and a minister. He later attended culinary school, and the rest is history.

Reservations are highly recommended—and one of the best parts is the free parking behind the restaurant. Definitely add this hidden gem to your brunch list!

Have you ever had DULCE DE LECHE PANCAKES?! Because these alone are worth the trip.

Godfrey’s Bakery Café is an easy-to-miss hidden gem tucked inside the Meeting House Hotel in Falls Church, with FREE parking!

A few favorites:
• Dulce de Leche Pancakes — absolutely unreal
• Shrimp & Grits — not your typical version and SO good
• Lorraine Quiche — incredibly moist and flavorful
• Beef Empanadas — definitely order these
• Blue Ridge Sandwich
• Salmon & Charred Peach Salad
• Prosciutto Pizza

And don’t skip the bakery case! Their fruit desserts are almost too pretty to eat. The lemon is adorable.

Great food, coffee, matcha, a patio, and even private event space upstairs. Diego took amazing care of us, and meeting Chef Godfrey was the perfect ending.

Definitely one to SAVE for your Falls Church food list!
