Joyous, whimsical and a tiny spark of mischief. Really loved the time I had with this car but alas it must go, and it has!

Another one sold before we even had the chance to advertise it.

Showroom Spotlight - 2019 McLaren 600LT

The top-exit exhausts are the giveaway. They tell you everything you need to know about the 600LT.

The 600LT ‘Longtail’ sits within McLaren’s Sports Series, developed as a more focused and extreme evolution of the 570S. The programme has always been about reducing weight, sharpening response and making the driver feel closer to the machine - and the 600LT might quietly be the sweet spot of modern McLaren production.

Thinner glass. Lighter suspension. Carbon fibre everywhere. Even the exhausts were repositioned higher and shorter to reduce weight and improve response.

The hydraulic steering is alive with feedback, the front end bites hard, and the whole car pivots with an immediacy that recalls older analogue machinery more than modern turbocharged exotica.

Then the exhausts start working.

Mounted inches behind the cabin, they crack and flare on upshifts, filling the car with heat and noise in a way that feels glorious. It’s visceral in the best possible sense, exactly what enthusiasts hoped McLaren would build when the LT badge returned.

This particular example is especially well judged.

Finished in McLaren Orange, Bruce McLaren’s original racing colour, and protected with full XPEL PPF from new, it combines the right spec with careful ownership. Carbon upgrade packs, P1 seats, MSO detailing and McLaren telemetry all add to the sense that this is a car chosen by somebody who understood exactly what the 600LT was about.

Importantly, it hasn’t been overused or overcomplicated. Just one owner from new, 8,000 miles, recently serviced by Bell & Colvill and supplied with McLaren warranty until 2027.

Available now with @godinsltd - check out The Showroom for more.

Showroom Spotlight – a beautifully usable 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale.

Few cars capture the spirit of early 1960s Italian automotive design quite like the Giulietta Sprint Speciale. Styled by Franco Scaglione at Bertone, and developed with Alfa Romeo’s competition experience firmly in mind, the SS combined striking aerodynamics with lightweight engineering — making it one of the most distinctive road cars of its era.

This example, built in January 1961, was first registered in the UK in June 2013 and has had just two UK owners since. Acquired by its current custodian five years ago, it has been dry stored, carefully maintained, and used as intended, rather than preserved as a static showpiece.

The car presents well overall. The interior shows little sign of wear, while the paintwork displays some gentle age-related patina, entirely in keeping with sympathetic use. It sits on 15-inch steel wheels with polished chrome hubcaps, fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres, which suit both its character and period correctness.

Power comes from Alfa Romeo’s 1.3-litre all-alloy twin-cam four-cylinder engine, breathing through twin Weber carburetors and driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.

Recent maintenance carried out in 2024 included an oil and filter change and the fitting of a new water pump, ensuring continued reliability.

The car is accompanied by a FIVA Identity Card, spare wheel, numerous historic MOT certificates, a collection of maintenance and parts invoices, and its current UK V5C registration document.

A wonderfully honest and usable Giulietta Sprint Speciale, proven on trouble-free European tours and summer drives — a classic Alfa Romeo that rewards being driven, not hidden away.
