Highlight of 2024

THE COLOUR PURPLE💜

In my mind I thought I’d post when the post show blues hit but they haven’t yet, probably because I still feel so connected to everyone! But we can’t end 2024 without paying homage to an experience that I will NEVER forget.

I am forever changed by this production! I’ve grown, I’ve belly laughed, I’ve cried (way too many times 😂). I’ve learnt so much about myself and how much I will forever adore musical theatre. The little girl in me would be so proud I still get to do what I love so dearly.

Creative Team- Thank you so much for the opportunity and believing I could bring Nettie to life. I’ve never wanted a character more🙈! You deserve the title of teachers as you truly pushed us to do our best but also instilled the importance and value of this show and story. Thank you🥹❤️

Big thanks to the production team and band for bringing this all to life, from stage crew to the sounds and lighting! Beautiful work 🤩🤩🤩🤩

And to my cast mates, you guys already know I love you downnn! Thank you for making this experience everything it was! A family was formed for sure 🥰🥰

“People think pleasing God is all God care about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back”

- Shug Avery, The Color Purple by Alice Walker

Alice Walker wrote a book about God. About finding God deep within and all around. And used a queer woman (Celie) to tell that story, and used another queer woman (Shug) to introduce her to God’s Truth. That I know was intentional. And despite the queer erasure in almost every adaptation, It’s been my dream to tell this story. Because as a young black queer woman who loves God and for whom God is not “some gloomy old man we done seen in the pictures”….i wanted someone to see this story and see themselves. To not see God and their sexuality as disharmonious.

The list of actresses who have played Shug Avery is full of legends so no doubt I was terrified to step into her heels. It stretched and pushed me in every way imaginable and I wouldn’t have gotten through it without the amazing leadership team and cast. Thank you creative team for giving me a chance, for seeing me for who I was and could be. Thank you to my cast for inspiring and loving me every day. I love yall to the moon and back. I have never met a room full of more talented humans my God.

11 sold out shows. 11 standing ovations.

Now whose rich uncle is gonna finance the West End production? 😂 @idriselba 👀

‘The color Purple’ 2024 @sedoslondon production! First thing, I give all praise to the most high God. What a blessing it has been to be apart of such an amazing production and also to perform amongst talented amazing people❕I love you all and thank you for making this experience absolutely amazing!!!

I originally never went for the part of ‘Harpo’ , I auditioned to be part of the ‘men ensemble’ but once I finished auditioning for that role, the Production called me back as I was leaving and asked me to audition for Harpo. I want to thank them alllll @vnaynay89 @cnelson220 @tashamsa @bridgetteamofah @tessrobs for believing in meee!!! And pushing me.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported me, I really do appreciate it❤️

Sorry I can’t tag everyone ❕❤️
