Sometimes in life you get the chance to take a real swing at making things better. I'm so grateful for that chance with Intentional Sports. And I'm so grateful for @common, and Tango Sur, and @caymussuisun and @coppercanewines and my amazing teammates, and so many good friends and supporters.

But most of all, my family.

Shots! But Not the fun kind. 💉💉💉

It honestly seemed never-ending. Weeks and weeks of two to three shots a day. I ran into a few road blocks. My first round was not fun nor successful. My body didn’t respond well to the hormone shots. I ended up with 2 to three large ovarian cysts (the size of limes) that developed and it was pretty painful for a few days. I recall one night at work where I thought I wouldn’t make it through a newscast hunched over with severe cramping. But powered through and Grateful nothing too serious! The takeaway here is… this is not necessarily an easy process and everyone’s body is different. I ran into an unfortunate circumstance but this certainly doesn’t happen to everyone. You never know what may happen along the way. There are side effects and some worse than others. I know women that had ZERO complications. & even though I ran into a little issue, I don’t regret anything! I’m just forever grateful for my support team (nurses and doctors) @ovaeggfreezing who were there for me! & of course my friends who stood by my side & helped coach me to inject shots into my stomach every day 🤣 & for their endless support through all the ups and downs. 🫶🏻

Since my body kind of freaked out the first go around, I had to wait for everything to calm and get back to a good (healthy) point to begin again (once I gained the confidence to do so). This took about a 1.5 months. But the wait was worth it! I started my second round with zero issues and it felt like a walk in the park.

I look back now and realize how amazing science and female bodies are. Fertility can be so complex! But it’s amazing to see what can be done now to help women who may have trouble getting pregnant or in my case, a back-up plan if I run into issues one day trying to start a family. 💉🧫🔬🥼 It’s so important to ask questions no matter what stage of life.

Fertility is a unique, complex subject and the choice to freeze your eggs should never be taken lightly. Lots of research and doctor consults needed! I wasn’t sure if this would even be an option for me, being over the age of 35. But Aha, your reproductive health doesn’t die once you turn 36. Every woman’s fertility is different and unique. There are so many reasons why women may want to think about and start freezing their eggs. For me, it is about time and where I am in my life currently. I do wish I started earlier but I just didn’t have the information I needed years ago. My advice; ask questions and advocate for yourself! Every woman should go after what she wants!

The first half of this year I dedicated a lot of time to myself and doing what I could to preserve my chances of having that future family I so dearly want. The reality, I am in my mid to late thirties. I’m not in a position to start a family yet. It’s not what I would have predicted years ago for me, but I can’t change the past. I have learned there’s still time, and I am doing all I can now, in the present, to plan for my future.

Fertility is a unique, complex subject. I wish I knew more about my own fertility years ago. I wish I asked more questions. I’m sharing this journey for any woman out there who might also have questions. Life happens fast!

So here’s a little intro to me sharing my egg freezing journey in hopes to open more communication and be here for anyone who may also want to consider this process. Mine was a bit of a roller coaster, but I’m happy I documented to share the ins, the outs, and all the intricacies.

I’m so grateful for my friends & family there for me through this process… & My boyfriend. It takes a village.
