For as long as I can remember, skiing was my entire identity. That’s all I knew. I never had a normal childhood or got to live a normal life because I was so determined to reach the Olympics—no matter the cost.

That meant sacrificing school, relationships, special moments, and even my own sanity at times. And when I finally achieved that dream… I wasn’t happy. I couldn’t understand why.

I had given my entire life to this one thing, and once I finally had it, I didn’t feel any more fulfilled than when I started. It all hit me a few months before the Games, during my first Olympic prep camp, when I broke down on the balcony of my apartment. I didn’t know it then, but that was the beginning of the post-Olympic crash and an identity crisis.

It took me over a year and a half to recover—to rediscover that I wasn’t just an athlete, but so much more.

Since then, I’ve found purpose through the lens of my camera, built a career as a software engineer, surrounded myself with an incredible network of friends, and created a life I’m proud of.

I also found comfort in knowing I wasn’t alone—many of my peers from Beijing later shared that they too felt the same void.

To anyone transitioning out of sport and trying to figure out what comes next: you will find meaning again. For me, it came through connection, therapy, and learning that life holds far more than just competition.

Full episode out tomorrow morning with founder of 42U, @bienkostephen

Cool to see him shed light on a topic so many awesome people I’ve had on the pod so far are dedicating their next chapter to.

The idea that the there are so many lessons learned from being an athlete that translate directly to life after the game.

NIL for 90% of college athletes is a piece of that puzzle that won’t produce life changing money, but will help launch the next chapter.

Ain’t no promises in this game…
Just pain, patience, and maybe—if you lucky—purpose.
I kept going when it didn’t make sense.
Now the change?
Starting to show up

A long overdue @gofreeagentnow appreciation post⚡️here are a few of my favourite moments from this year.

This is a project that’s been in the works for a while, and watching it hit beta has been incredibly rewarding. The FreeAgent team is one of the most dedicated, mission-driven groups I’ve had the chance to work with.

Feeling grateful, inspired, and proud of what’s unfolding. It’s been a privilege to be part of this one and work with these people. It takes a village!!!

Congrats, FreeAgent team 🖤
