A little home movie moment from this time last year, when we finished our summer long toast to Tim at @burningman with #timsbench

It was an honor to help @laurenlemon and @caitran bring this project to the desert to share the generosity of their magical dad, Tim.

EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYBODY! worked so hard through the summer to build this touching (and sitting) tribute to Tim - it felt special to make community between family and friends working together to bring three benches that best represented Tim’s love for event, the color green, and how many people loved him in return.

Getting to be a steward of this respite spot all week long was the truest delight. We got to watch thousands of people see Tim’s altruism in the way we could offer, with a place to sit. We were lucky to keep retelling Tim’s story, how he had contributed to the event over the years, and most importantly, share his abundant joy and consideration for others. Tim knew that a place to sit can be just as restorative as a hot cup of coffee or a chilled glass of champagne.

Most importantly, we remembered to have fun - even when our camp got destroyed, even when things were lost, and even when hauling multiple 25lb batteries in our bike baskets. I’d like to think that Tim would be proud of how we found our balance out there.

I posted the benches from Burning Man ‘25, now here’s the bullshit. Getting film developed after almost 2 whirlwind weeks in the desert is always a trip. I remember all of it and nothing at the same time.

With Burning Man right around the corner, I figured it’s time to share the third and final installment of last year’s Honoraria Project, Tim’s Bench: The Flower Bench.

This bench felt like the most important, or at least the most meaningful. This was our most collaborative bench; with the hands of almost all of my Dad’s closest friends and family having a part in the final product.

When Our House Camp started, we leaned into the idea of having a mailbox, a white picket fence, and a front door with a working doorbell that my Dad would haul out and install every year. He began decorating the area around his van like a garden, finding floral lights and garden bugs to light up camp. This was the inspiration for The Flower Bench: a garden on the playa.

We cut, sanded, and primed flower shapes and had friends and family each paint one - making sure to send ones to those who lived far away, complete with a return envelope. Some drew inspiration from actual flowers, others went psychedelic. One included star constellations that featured the van in outer space! We also had folks make crochet fruits, vegetables, and more flowers to include a bit of mixed media in to our garden bench.

The final bench sat on a base of fiber-optic, glowing, green grass. @caitran was inspired by playa art we stumbled across over a decade ago. With the help of @audreyobscura and some tedious assembly work, it became my favorite bench to visit at night. Plus, we had customizable LEDs that we could adjust remotely, in real-time, so setting the lights to the vibe of the night each time we visited was a fun game for our crew. 78 days sober, I’m exhausted..but I’m also so proud. Simultaneously the hardest and easiest thing I’ve ever done. It’s difficult not having the crutch of alcohol, but it’s so easy to get used to how you feel without it. Social situations are a little more difficult, but everything that I do without booze makes me a tiny bit stronger. Coming to terms with mistakes I made while drunk will lay me out for a day, but knowing my mistakes from here on out will be all me (😏) helps. I told my therapist to start asking me before every session if I’ve drank, and the accountability really helped me. Follow me for more life advice. Just kidding, don’t. Or do..idk could be fun, I’ll drive ❤️

My boy @gogrey laid down some stellar bad lines for “Price You Pay” on Monday @yuccamanrecords w/ @red.head.fred 😎🤘. So excited to share the finished product with y’all soon!! I’m so blessed to have such beautiful and talented people in my life, that believe in me, to lift me up and cheer me on! 🙏❤️
