An absolute massive thank you to Traditional Owners of Bawurrbarnda Jalkie Rickson and Anne Kelly, who hosted over 200 women at Strong Women Forum 2026.

Anne, Jalkie and family members welcomed to country and blessed all attendees through traditional smoking and water ceremony.

Both ladies shared traditional knowledge throughout the event, with stories by the fireside and during the billabong walk.

The utmost gratitude to you both and all of your family and community for making this such a special and wholesome event. Thank you 🙏 💕

SWHC Program Manager Margie O’Brien explains the water blessing and smoking ceremony: “So just near where we camped, there was a spring, and those water sources carry significant stories, and having a water blessing, that keeps us safe while we’re there. We’re on other people’s Country.

As Aboriginal people, when we travel and we go to someone else’s Country, it’s still important for us to show respect.

And because we were camping out and we were staying out bush, we want to make sure that we have that protection for us, that we’re there on Country.”

If filming travel content doesn’t give you the ick… YOU’RE NOT DOING IT RIGHT!

Any self respecting Aussie knows the inner shame of putting yourself out there and looking like an idiot.

PRO TIP - fuck it and go for a frolick

If you only looked at your life from a different perspective, you’d see just how magical it already is.

The pains & struggles,
The delights & highs,
The moments that seem so small & insignificant at first,
That turn into beautiful memories one day.

It’s all part of your own real-life movie!

It’s ALL YOURS
And it’s perfect.

You’ve already got a beautiful story, just waiting to be told…….. so start sharing more of it!
