A little highlight about one of our founders 🌿

Dr. Luc Maes has spent nearly 40 years asking one question: what’s the root cause? If you know how his medical brain works, you’ll understand why he fell in love with baobab, and why he co-founded KAIBAE in 2011 to bring biodiversity preservation and improved livelihoods to communities in Africa.

Now he’s celebrating 30 years of the Maes Center for Natural Health Care in Santa Barbara with a free talk:

🌿 Stop Treating Symptoms: One Doctor’s Case for Getting to the Root
📅 Thursday, Oct 15, at 4 PM (Pacific)
📍 Organic Soup Kitchen, 126 E Haley St, Santa Barbara, or watch on Zoom
🍲 Soup tasting included for those who join in person
Seats are filling fast. Reserve your spot, link on the organicsoupkitchen.org

This refreshing green juice cocktail/mocktail is just what we need on a hot summer afternoon ☀️💚😋

It’s sweet from the pineapple, spicy from the jalapeños, and tangy from the baobab fruit powder, which provides a powerful dose of prebiotic fiber as well! With alcohol or not, this drink is intoxicatingly delicious and healthier than your average cocktail!! 🤤

For rim:
1 Tbsp @gokaibae baobab fruit powder
1Tbsp @eatsimpli
Peruvian pink salt
1 wedged lime

For mocktail:
8-10 cilantro sprigs
8-10 mint leaves
2 Tbsp @gokaibae baobab
1 cup fresh pineapple
1/3 cup chopped cucumber
2 jalapeño slices
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz agave
Optional: an ounce or two of your favorite tequila

On a plate, combine the baobab powder and salt. Rub the rim of your glass with the wedged lime and dip into the rim salt mixture. Set aside. In a blender, add cilantro, mint, @gokaibae baobab, pineapple, cucumber, jalapeño slices, and lime juice. Blend, then pour into a cocktail shaker. Add agave, optional tequila (or other alcohol if desired), and ice. Shake well until cold, and strain into your rimmed glass over more ice. Garnish with cilantro, mint, and a jalapeño slice. Enjoy!!

🌍⚽ World Cup magic comes in many forms — but this year, one moment stole our hearts.

When Shakira took the global stage with “Dai Dai” for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, she did more than celebrate football — she helped shine a spotlight on Africa’s incredible culture, music, and heritage. Then came the surprise: @burnaboygram and @ghettokids_tfug joining her, dancing in front of a majestic Baobab tree. 🌳

The visibility matters! Every time the world embraces African culture, it opens new doors for African products, communities, and sustainable livelihoods.

We know this firsthand. KAIBAE organic baobab is harvested by communities in Northern Ghana, supporting more than 1,000 community members while protecting one of Africa’s most iconic trees — the Baobab, the “Tree of Life.”

Greater appreciation for Africa means greater appreciation for its people, biodiversity, and foods. Here’s to a future where the world’s biggest stages help create lasting opportunities for the communities that have cared for these treasures for generations.
