sometimes self-care is quiet meditations but other times, it’s blasting your favorite songs and screaming at the top of your lungs while you dance like no one’s watching. self-care can be fun and playful. ✨

introducing: Ode to Asia 🧧|| an origin story
candle scent notes: ylang ylang, hinoki, yuzu, pear
growing up, every time we visited a friend or relatives, we would bring a big bag of fruit. On special occasions, even oranges 🍊, which symbolized good luck, weren’t special enough— only a box of Asian pears was appropriate. This scent has gentle scent notes of pear, yuzu, healing hinoki, and the exotic mood booster, ylang ylang, for a celebratory yet peaceful experience. It may sound like a fruity floral scent, but I assure you the scent is quite soft and warm.

This scent is an ode to Asia, an ode to all the memories of growing up in an Asian household that made sure to always bring a gift of gratitude to the host. This scent is an ode to all who identify as Asian, who have faced immense levels of hate and challenges since the start of COVID. A candle for those whom we have lost due to COVID and those who continue to suffer from its impacts, especially due to their Asian identity. This scent is an ode to us. A celebration of our voices and our faces being heard and seen on the big screen and represented more and more. And finally, a celebration of the Year of the Tiger and all its promises.

10% of all sales from Ode to Asia will go towards @stopaapihate 💛

happy first day of October! ✨🧡

there have been global pandemic and issues such as racism coming to the surface, California wildfires and hurricanes, elections looming, but one thing I know is that I can still choose gratitude and joy all the days of my life. ✨

I’m excited for this month. In September I had three phrases carry me through: “reset”, “dream big”, and “the best wine comes last”. In October, I am feeling “overwhelmed by joy”, “gathering the harvest”, and “feasting with loved ones” will drive my month. ✨

Some exciting developments personally and with @gold.map is that we are entering Q4, normally winter in the States, and the end-of-year push for most, while starting the process of dreaming and strategizing for 2021. this year feels different though. I don’t know about you but so many things didn’t go as “planned”, which isn’t a bad or good thing but it forced a lot of us to pivot (do you hear Ross because I do). I started my company back in January with plans to target small businesses and entrepreneurs but in July, pivoted to starting @gold.map which has been more focused on individuals finding connection with themselves and reigniting dreams and redefining focus. What I learned is that an org is only as good as its people. It’s all about people. ✨

So. I’m verbose about it, I am excited. Excited to work with the people I get to work with. Excited for what the last few months of 2020 hold. Grateful for each day I get to experience a new day. Life isn’t always rainbows and unicorns but every day has its own rainbows and unicorns if we look for it. So happy first day of October to you! ✨

also, I’ve got 10 slots left for the rest of 2020 so DM me to book a session! Let’s dream together about 2021 or work on something specific— for you, or for your organization or business. xx ✨

bringing art into coaching ✨

sometimes in coaching and talking about areas of stuck-ness, we get into the same narratives and cycles again because the words we use are powerful. they have weight. that’s why I’m introducing painting and art into my @gold.map sessions. a picture is worth a thousand words ✨

if you’re feeling stuck.
if you’re needing direction.
if you’re needing healing.
if you’re needing vision.
if you’re needing peace.
if you’re needing a strategy for your life or your company or your relationships.
if you’re needing childlike play to reconnect with yourself.

DM me and we can setup a @gold.map session for you. ✨

I have 3 slots left this month ✨

today ✨

what if today IS the day to revive your dreams? you know, the ones you laid down and swore would never come to pass? the ones you felt were too big, too far beyond you? the ones you swore you’d never be worthy of? ✨

what if today is the day to dream again? to believe again? ✨

who told you it was too late? who told you that you’re too small or too old? who told you? ✨

it’s never too late.
you’re never too small.
you’re never too old.
it’s never too far away.
you’re never too late.
it’s never too big.
it’s never too late. ✨

what if today is the day?
what if September 1, 2020 is the day that we’ll remember for all of eternity because today was the day you decided to say yes to your dreams? what if today became a national holiday? an anniversary? what if it was today? ✨

5 spots left for @gold.map coaching from now until the end of September! DM for details.

how to grow in self-awareness ✨

do you ever do or say something and think... “wow, that doesn’t seem like me at all”? or you’re at a store and someone is completely rude to you and you think, are they even aware of how they just acted?✨

self-awareness is a consciousness that you can grow into with intention. In the Harvard Business Review, an org psychologist investigated over 5000 participants and concluded only 10-15% actually fit the criteria of being self-aware, even though most people *believed* they were. pretty ironic, right?✨

On a 2x2, the researcher placed people on high/low levels of internal (how clearly we see our own values, passions, impact on others) and external (how others see us) self-awareness and demonstrated the importance of having both when evaluating ourselves. ✨

internal awareness - seeing ourselves clearly - is an important step to knowing where we start and where we end. what our boundaries are. what our purpose and values are. it’s a journey all on its own! external awareness - how others experience us - requires a lot more active pursuit of feedback from loving constructive criticism. It’s not something many of us like to do but it helps us to grow when we know how others feel when they’re around us. ✨

✨do you know what makes you come alive?
✨what are the core values you live by?
✨ how do you think people experience you?

It was also found in the research that to grow deeper in self-awareness, one shouldn’t ask “why?” questions but focus on “what” questions is instead. Instead of asking “why do I feel sad”, ask, “what are the decisions I make and circumstances that make me feel sad?”✨

CHALLENGE: for the day or week or month. write down how you think someone you love experiences you. use a list or write down characteristics. now ask the person how they experience you and ask them to be honest. is there a match or are there differences?✨

we are always growing. this is a journey. take your time with getting to know yourself better. you’re worth it. the world is needing more self-awareness from all of us. ✨
