Pre judging routine! So so proud of the package I brought this weekend. Give me a year and I will be coming back even better.

Right now, my posing is a pretty good example of being willing to be bad before you get good šŸ˜‚

But listen, everybody starts somewhere! I’m willing to look a little awkward, be a beginner, and put in the reps until it starts to click (and I stop looking like a baby deer learning to walk).

I think we sometimes forget that being bad at something is just part of the process. It’s easy to want to skip that phase and jump straight to being good, but that’s not how it works, babe! You have to be willing to show up, feel a little uncomfortable, make mistakes, and keep going.

So here I am, learning how to pose, one awkward practice session at a time.

The goal is to look back at this next year when I do step on stage and see just how far I’ve come. Until then, I’ll keep showing up, getting a little better each time I practice.

Posing coach (We’ve only done 1 session together so she’s not to blame here. I know she’s going to help me get a lot better!): @goldenposing

Making others dreams come true>>>

My number one question I always get is ā€œJess, why haven’t you competed again yet?ā€

And the answer is this:
Because no one can understand how much fulfillment I feel from helping others win and accomplish their dreams. I’m not missing out on anything, in fact with this job I’ve gained so much.

To all of my clients who trust me with something that is so important, and for sharing your accomplishment with me, thank you. I don’t take this lightly, I do this with my whole heart every single day because seeing all of you live out your dreams means everything to me. A promise I made to myself is that I would give my all to this, and I’ve kept my word. It has been everything and more that I’ve dreamed of. When you win, I win. When you tell me how confident you feel, I win. When you are excited about your posing, I win. When you get off stage and can’t wait to share it with me, I win. I win in so many ways every single day in this job and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

One day I’ll compete again, but I’ve never once felt like I’m missing out on competing because I’m busy making all your dreams come true- my dream and vision is channeled through you all.

@goldenposing is just getting started, my energy and focus is all on YOU🩷

Show day photo dump, placings, feedback, and what’s coming next ✨

I planned my first show a year in advance! A whole year! And many years before that dreaming of stepping on stage. And while I didn’t place where I wanted, I am so damn proud.

Placings:
1st in KY state championships class b
3rd in masters 35+
4th in true novice
I held center in second callouts for open class d

I’m not going to sugar coat it; I had a small pity party on my drive home. Waking up at 3 am for a hair appointment and not going on stage until almost 7pm. Missing the call for bikini and not eating or pumping up prior to getting pushed on stage. A horrible tan.

I had reasons, excuses but, while valid, it was my mindset that got in the way. I let my nerves and feeling frazzled and rushed get in my head, and I didn’t present well. I know I brought a better package than what I showcased. So, I can either do something about it or let it go. And that lit a fire under me; I need redemption!

2 more shows scheduled for this season! Back to back November 14 and 21st. And your girl is coming for that national qualifier!

Judges feedback:
- my tan was horrible (it really was)
- more pelvic tilt in my front pose for more glute pop
- more tie in conditioning
- more glute overall (always) but solid base
- more delts if they’re being picky

This is 100% achievable in the next few weeks. Let’s go get it!

I have also made the decision to compete in NPC Natural moving forward. While only one of my upcoming shows is natural, that is where I want to focus moving forward and hope to aid in the growth of the NPC natural community.

A big thank you to so many people who supported me through this:

Prep Twins: @move.withviola @sammylifts
New friends: @ajmcgee519 @paula_be_str0ng7
And, my biggest supporters: my son and hubby

We’re not done yet - not even close ✨

I get asked a lot what my next show plans are, and as much as I want to be able to promise a show date, I would much rather not put the pressure on myself to force my way into a competition I’m not ready for. Do I want to be on stage again next year? Hell yeah. Am I going to do everything I can to make it happen? Absolutely. Will I step on stage under-conditioned again? 99% chance I won’t. I want my next showing to blow my last one out of the water and I know that process can take a lot longer than I might expect it to. That being said, my mind is set on prepping again soon enough. I just have to rebuild the foundation that will have my body and my mind ready for one.
I’ve got some really cool people in my corner that are working to get me there, so I’m beyond excited to experience how that process will unfold.
But for now, may the off season off season ✨

First and foremost, I want to thank the man up above. Without Him, none of this would be possible. This weekend we went to Charlotte for the Mid Atlantic Classic and walked away with 3rd place in Open and 4th place in Novice! I seriously cannot explain how thankful and PROUD I am.

Coming from a small town, you don’t see a lot of this. Some people will understand & some other people won’t, but never let where you come from or the people around you make you feel like you aren’t capable of doing something.

To my amazing man, I don’t think you’ll ever understand how much you’ve done for me. There were days I questioned myself and every single time, this man would pick my head up and tell me, ā€œyes you can.ā€ Thank you for believing in me.

This year has taught me so much about life, love, growth and learning to love people differently than I used to. Getting out of the military was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. That was my entire life throughout my 20s. And now, stepping into my 30s, I’m learning who I am outside of that uniform. And man, it’s beautiful how God works in mysterious ways.

NEVER give up on yourself. Even when people look at you crazy because you have an idea or some random hobby you want to pursue. To everyone who took time out of their day to be part of this special moment, THANK YOU. My cunis, my nail tech, my makeup artist, my posing coach Jess and my coach Rob.

And as for the judges feedback, physique was great, the posing was good, but I need to come back with MORE UPPER GLUTES AND BETTER CONDITIONING. And you know what? WE LOVE THAT. Because that means there’s still work to be done and more room to grow. For now, we’re taking some well deserved time off, enjoying life and getting ready for the next chapter.
