And so it begins.....Again!

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Black Sun, Rise was created when the rose colored glasses slipped off.
When I seen for myself the pressures put on our children.

What happened to kids being kids?
It seems like black boys especially just grow up too soon. Picking up the expectations and stereotypes of the world and reading its syllabus as if there is something to prove.

I noticed that,

One day..
The smile fades.
The parks are empty.
Books banned from libraries.

This little black boy’s Imagination got thin.
However, the distractions, are easily allowed in.

Smart phones was a tool, till we allowed in comparison.
Music lost its heart for a good beat and a ‘bad bitch’.
School was meant for education, but the curriculum never taught the truth about red-lining them.

Even still, a new day comes and the sun rises.
With this loud world and its politics, rat race, and disrespectful stereotypes you can shine still too. Be who you want to be, when you want to be.
Choose your path.
Keep your smile.
Live worthwhile.
Timshel.

Be like the sun.
Rise, daily.

DJ Rahdu × RahduDidIt

I don’t just make these record boxes. I actually use them.

There’s something special about DJing with something I designed and built myself. And one of my favorite moments is when somebody looks at the box and asks, “Where’d you get that?”

I get to smile and say…

“I made it.”

That feeling never gets old.

I make the boxes I want to use.
Then I take them with me.

Yesterday’s artist talk with @miyabailey x @honorrollblair was so enlightening. ✨

We talked about the works of Today & Tomorrow, Miya’s process, and the different projects + mediums he’s exploring next. 😎👀

Created to the tunes of Miles Davis 🎶🎺, these pieces are literally layered with meaning — flashes of the past, covered by the emotions of the present, with glimmers of a better future dancing across the surface.

It was dope getting a closer look at the ideas, emotions, and intention behind the work and hearing what Miya is exploring next. 💫

If you haven’t seen the work yet, you’ve still got some time. DM me to schedule a private tour before the exhibition closes this week. 📩

Group Project: An Artist Talk w/ Miya Bailey 🎤🎨

My experience at the @atlartfair yesterday taught me a lot. One of them being that it is imperative for me to step my game up. What I’m sharing here is a mega microcosm of the inspiration and motivation I received walking through the fair with my brother @goldigold45. We shared convo about holding ourselves accountable to elevate our gift and intentionality to higher levels.

It also taught me that there are a lot of artists who also need to step their game up. Having a bubbly personality or all your friends celebrate your work can stifle growth, and I witness that quite often. Those aren’t the people or processes to be in the same room as the masterful men and women from across the country and world, who I witnessed displaying an artistic input that comes from deep within the soul, and not from compliments from friends and family. I saw this space as a war zone of sorts, and people definitely came with their battle armor. Do you come with yours? Or, is your talent stifled by comfort and complacency provided within the proximity of people who can stroke your ego, leading you to believe that you’ve achieved a level that you have not? I choose war…and to remind myself to show up in a space to take heads off. Therefore based on this experience yesterday, I have to go into training to ensure that I always operate at a “take your head off” level of craftsmanship and creative execution.

Congrats and respect to all the WONDERFUL artists I know who represented in the fair. The care and concern you placed into your work was very evident. And also to those I had the chance to speak with who shared a mutual respect when I shared my work. You have inspired me to improve upon my greatness.

My youngest son, Dilla (Percussion Section Leader) and the Marching Midnights just won Best Overall at the 2026 Jaguar Marching Band Classic. Rocky has been playing for the marching band since he was in the 7th grade. This is what he stayed up until 2am on school nights with headphones on and a silent drum pad driving his siblings nuts FOR YEARS.
Congratulations to Dr. Carlton Williams (blue phi!), the Marching Midnights, and to my son. Sky is the limit for this child of the original sky daddy 🤍
