Yesterday we christened a boat in honor of Rick Schroeder— Husky student-athlete, longtime boatman and a legend of our rowing programs. Thank you, Rick, for your decades of service to the Huskies!

Gun Alba, gun phàrtaidh — No Scotland, no party

Glasgow is bringing the party back to Boston this weekend for @hocr1965 Here is the crew representing the Black and Gold down the Charles River. They are racing on Saturday, 17 October at 12:45 (17:45 BST) in event 31, bow number 23.

Philip Williams is a fourth year business and politics student as well as this year’s club treasurer. He first learned to row at @gonzagarowing where he previously competed in the youth 8+ at HOCR and placed 10th, and is looking forward to once again racing on the Charles. Outside of the boat, Philip enjoys baking for the club committee meetings and tending to his rooftop garden.

Itay Yekutieli is a fifth year mechatronics engineering student. He first learned to row 12 years ago at the @daniel_rowing_centre He describes himself as the lord of memes and will now have raced in more international sports events than has watched (he doesn’t watch sports).

Conor Haughney is a fourth year business and computer science student. He learned to row nine years ago at @watsonsrowing Conor is this year’s men’s captain which means everyone keeps him on his toes but he likes to think they all have a good time. That is until he tells the guys they have to meet at 5:30 for training. Outside of rowing, Conor is a keen bagpiper with one of his top achievements being placing 2nd at the world championships, and he works part time as a software developer.

Elliot Mutter learned to row in his first year at Glasgow, and is now a third year economics and philosophy student. He’s excited to row in a city he’s never visited before – hopefully on a river where Merlin won’t have to steer around thrown-in shopping trolleys. Between juggling a job at Mulberry and his degree, a lot of Elliot’s first year at GUBC was spent learning how to toe-steer a coxless quad. He’s happy to be back in a coxed four – as are the other boats on the Clyde.

Merlin Walther is a first year student at Northeastern University in Boaton doing a study abroad at Glasgow and studies nursing and sports medicine with a concentration in regenerative sciences. He has been rowing for over three years, starting because of his father and continu

The calm before the deluge - huge gallery of Friday am practice on the Charles posted to the site now.

Boathouses on the Charles and beyond were scrambling today to get as much equipment inside as possible, but Sunday’s Head of the Kurmakov is still on as of now; we hope to see you there if it happens and our camera gear can take it!

Introducing one of the crews heading to HRR qualifiers

THE SILVER GOBLETS & NICKALLS’ CHALLENGE CUP

Alex Willott
Luke Putter

All three head to head matchups between this pair during the US collegiate racing season ended within a single-second margin. They have decided to temporarily put the rivalry aside for a Henley campaign.

The crew will look to get out of the blocks with the urgency that Northeastern showed against Washington and GB, while also pushing through crews in the final 250 like Penn did against Northeastern.

🎓 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 🎓
Next up we have Xavier Sanchez. Xavier came to Kent as a 4th Former and has been a member of KSBC for 3 years. Xavier’s favorite KSBC memory was the annual Clemson Dinner with the boys.

Prior to his time on the Millbrook Road, Xavier spent 2 years rowing at Rumsey Hall, and he also spent a summer competing with the Litchfield Hills Rowing Club. He is from Yonkers, NY, and will attend Northeastern University, where he is committed to row (under Head Coach Alex Perkins '11) and plans to major in Marketing. Go Huskies!
