Sir @charles_cherry3 was invited to participate in a Black Men In Tech Conference in Chicago. So Chayla and I invited ourselves to tag along.

When I tell you that we had the best time and ate more brunch than ever before in our entire lives!!! If my Chicago family and friends don’t do anything else, they are going to have some Brunch!!! Then after 126 brunches in Chicago with @tthurmeyes, brunch and city tour with @thecoolestbreeze and @camrynsalter, special retirement brunch with @thecoolestbreeze hosted by @kdubiswhattheycallme, and another brunch with @schnellpl, @imalwaysyvonne, @nikkimoo1, @timelesssmilesdentalchicago, @leslie_davis_67 and the Camellias, then more brunch at my cousin’s PC and Larry’s home, then my Spesh @b_alexisb threw a Spelhouse get together at her house with the absolute best lavender lemon drops…

Bayyyybeeee! When I tell you we had a time!!! I am still stuffed. I’m sorry that I didn’t get to see some of my faves, but we simply ran out of time. They wore me out!!! We’ll be back. Thank you, Everybody who came to see us! We had a blast!

My cousins are in town, so I called the experts to see where to go for the best conch.

Thank you, @ericaeatsamerica for your suggestions! You were spot on. The tropical conch salad, the Bahamian conch salad and the conch fritters were all delicious!!!

We truly enjoyed @kingsmiamiconchshack! We’ll be back again. I am stuffed and sleepy!

Last night Margate Park neighbors might have noticed something new and special in the Buttercup Park plaza! The space is now equipped with some beautiful plaza lights! Buttercup Park received an SSA grant that allowed us to light the plaza enhancing the safety and charm! Check them out next time you take a stroll through the park.

We are so excited to sharing these renderings. We hope you are too and share them with your friends and make the decision to support Friends of McCutcheon as we strive to make this dream a reality.

Now to answer a few questions about the design. Through collaboration with the school, neighborhood, and our outstanding design firm Site, the renders below showcase multiple areas of hard and soft surfaces, shade and sun, tables, and places to run around - each fully accessible for all kids regardless of mobility or sensory needs. Large 20’ sliding gates on both the north and south ends of the fence create an open space for the community to engage. Space at tables and on turf provide new and exciting places for classes to meet and students to engage in learning. Goodbye gray walls and chain link fence. It's time for bright, interactive, and inspiring spaces for our students. #chicagopublicschools #mccutcheonelementary #supportyourschool #letsbuildaplayground #Uptown #Chicago #WeAreMcCutcheonStrong

Yesterday was such a great day!

It started out visiting @bwanberg, whom I met when we co-starred in my first play in Chicago in 1988. She then drove me to meet with @goodensmiley who waitressed with me at a popular restaurant that same year. She then drove me to meet with @miaparkmiapark, whom I met in 2006-is while studying with my former teacher. Through it all, I saw so many parts of the city; some that have changed and some that have held onto the historical charm.

Thank you Becky, PC, and Mia - for sharing a meal, a drive, a walk, some taiji, and wonderful talks. Thank you mostly for parting with your precious time for a visit. You are each so dear to me and will always be in my heart. I can't wait to see you again. (Next time will be less than 30 years!)

THE LOCKERS WERE INSTALLED TODAY! THE LOCKERS WERE INSTALLED TODAY! You all should be proud of your support of Friends of McCutcheon. As I walked through the middle school today, the excitement was palpable. The students, teachers, and staff are thrilled and can't wait to start using them! These lockers will be a blessing for years to come. Together, we can do amazing things, and today I was able to experience it firsthand. We can't wait to share what we're working on next! #bettertogether #mccutcheonelementary #cps #supportyourschool
