One of the most gratifying parts of THE GRANDFATHER PUZZLE film was not only feeling closer to my grandfather, but getting to know this life he left behind — the life he never got to live. My friend, Alex Garcia @garcia_alexandra calls this concept a “ghost life”. I kept imagining: what if my family had never left? What if I wasn’t an American filmmaker but a Hungarian one? In that alternate life, all of these cool Hungarian creatives would have been my friends — and now they are.”

Some stories write themselves... and today, the Lake Erie College community pulled out all the stops to save a dog and reunite him with his family! 🐶✨

On her way to work, President Jennifer N. Schuller spotted what she initially thought was a fox running down a busy road before jumping into a pond. She immediately pulled over, realized the little guy was struggling, and jumped right into the water to fish him out!

Our Head of Maintenance at the Equestrian Center met President Schuller to knock on nearby doors. When she couldn’t find any owners, she posted a photo on Facebook while taking him to be checked out by our Equestrian Studies Resident Veterinarian, Dr. Michael Cinotti, DVM.

The Lake Erie College network quickly swung into action: a thoughtful alumna saw the Facebook post and recognized the dog from a local missing pet post. Thanks to everyone’s quick thinking and teamwork, 14-year-old Henry was safely reunited with his family after being missing for a full day!

For us, sustainability starts with changing the way we see what we throw away. That idea is at the heart of FOUND, our documentary on Leo Sewell - found object sculptor - exploring art, waste, creativity, and the possibility of giving discarded things a new life and creating emotional legacy.

After cataract surgery, one chimpanzee has regained his eyesight, giving him a chance to see the people, places, and world around him more clearly again. What a beautiful second chance to experience the world.

Sometimes, good news is as simple as being able to see it. 👀✨
