Repost • @jasminecrowe ‪#TBT - This came up as memory yesterday. This is a picture of me three years ago after winning my first pitch competition. I remember running out of gas on I-75 during rush hour. I sat in my car and cried happy tears as I waited for AAA. It was my first win in life in a very long time. Backstory I was about a year out of a terrible relationship. One where I walked away with nothing just to walk away with my life. I practiced for this pitch competition everyday for over three weeks, 100+ times a day. Morning, Noon and Night. I would make myself start over if I got to the end and messed up. I had to do it 10 times right before I would let myself go to sleep. I had four minutes for this pitch I would pratice to @future’s #MaskOff and @kendricklamar’s #Humble and I would know I was nearing my time when the songs ended. I had a failed Kickstarter, no angel investors, my parents were divorced and had just sent my sister to Spelman so I literally had no way to access capital other than pitch competitions. Had I not learned to pitch and overcome my fear of public speaking well @goodrco wouldn’t be here today. Some of my friends joke about me never losing a pitch competition- but the truth is I had to to win, it was the only way I would have funding to build my company in those early days. This photo puts so much in perspective for me. I can honestly say I turned a $15K pitch competition win into a multimillion dollar company in just three years! For our 10 year anniversary of joining The Bloody Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Thee D.A.N.G.E.R. “US” 18 has donated $2010 to help provide meals for families in the Atlanta area.
