Kes, 1969.

In the world of the heartless.

Against AI slop and messenger bans, maybe we all need kestrels...

Worldwide cinema language • deep • huge • wide • Billy Casper = the lad w/ incurably samurai spirit.

Cruel adult world keeps crushing child world. Suffocating Saturdays and stale domestic air push boy toward freedom. Cold-blooded cruelty and plague-like blindness of system, society, education — never overexplained, just observed with frightening precision. Every school scene is unbelievable. Biggest highlight of this careless school hierarchy? That outrageously funny football sequence.

Twilight is usually weakest visual territory in cinema, but Kes masters it completely. Hardest stealth mode I’ve ever seen on screen.
Music… I miss this kind of music in films. Magical accompaniment to on-location shooting.

Every heart is filled with dawn.
When there is someone to love and care for.

Maybe my top-10 ever & British top-5. Can’t believe this was made in 1969. Timeless masterpiece that reshaped perception of British culture itself.

P. S. Now I know where Marty Supreme got that running scene from.

Rebuilding, 2025.

Can you be a cowboy even without cows now?

Josh O’Connor playing a broke man is my fav masculinity genre. Josh O’Connor behind the wheel of a pickup, in a western shirt. He’s got a strong partner here. Watching their father–daughter duo, adult and child, was fun through tears. Heart-to-heart talks in the back of a pickup. Paris, Texas vibes.

Best film to watch after quitting your job. Slow life in full form, but not performative like in The Mastermind. Unlike that one, Rebuilding isn’t boring, just asks for focus. Message lands: fuck gentrification and digitalization. That’s a win.

On-location shooting and a moon of exceptional beauty.
Another beautiful film about memory — how much it really matters. Remembering your own. Bicycle scene, such a throwback to childhood.

One of my favorite takes on afterlife voiced here, tree of the day. Gentle. Magic happens.

Josh O’Connor being very emotional and stuff.
Wanna be one of those glow-in-the-dark stars on the wall after this all-encompassing, deeply human film.
