Last weekend I was inducted into the National Capital Amateur Football Association Hall of Fame.⁣
⁣
My football journey began waaay back in 1986 when I was 9 years old as a member of the Kanata March Hares. I was definitely one of the smallest players on the team (which would not be uncommon for the next 20+ years of my life lol), but I absolutely loved the game - the physicality, the competitiveness, the teamwork required, everything! ⁣
⁣
Although I played other sports throughout high school, football quickly became my obsession as I graduated from the March Hares to the Kanata Knights, to the Myers Riders, and to the Ottawa Sooners before heading to Syracuse University in 1996.⁣
⁣
Football has obviously given me a lot - a university education, a successful pro career, and a big role in my strength coaching career - but it all started with the amazing coaches, teammates, and experiences I had as a young boy. Without those people that I first met almost 40 years ago now, who knows what my life would have looked like.⁣
⁣
I am extremely thankful and grateful for everyone who was part of my early football life that helped lead me to where I am today. ⁣
