CGS was honestly life changing for all of us. It was a week filled with fun activities such as the leap of faith, high ropes courses, messy games, canoeing, and so much more. We even got to make our own rosaries! But this week was more than just fun. We also learned more about our faith. Every morning we would start off with reading specific passages in the bible (turns out they were all the joyful mysteries haha) and we would try to find out what stood out to us and why. Since the whole theme of the retreat was “fiat” meaning yes, we read Luke 1:27-38, to summarize this is when the Angel Gabriel told Mary that she was chosen by God to carry his son Jesus, Mary (though scared at first) decided to trust in the Lord and said her fiat. After reading about her fiat, and learning about others’ fiats from stories told throughout the week (such as the Blessed Chiara) we were inspired to make fiats of our own. We learned to say yes to things that were of God. Not only did we grow in our faith, but we grew closed to our sisters and brothers in our own parish. Knowing that someone will always have your back is a comforting feeling, and I’m glad to have friends knowing that the end goal is to bring each other closer to heaven. Although at the end of the week we were sad to go, they reminded us that home is wherever Jesus is. // SHOUTOUT TO ALANNA FOR BEING THE BEST MISSIONARY A GROUP OF SISTERS COULD ASK FOR
