We’re very happy to have two films screening in Paris next week!
__

Göran Hugo Olsson’s Concerning Violence screens at Nouvel Odéon on 27 October.
Drawing on Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth and narrated by Lauryn Hill, the documentary uses archival footage to explore African struggles for liberation from colonial rule.

Tunnel Vision screens at Le Consulat Voltaire in Paris on 27 October, with a DJ set by Stacey and TV visuals.

Lukas Wigardt’s documentary TUNNEL VISION is an extreme underground adventure with graffiti writers Rolex and Lumos as they carry out a historic painting mission in Stockholm’s metro. Featuring music by Woesum, Yung Lean and others.

Concerning Violence: Nine Scenes from the Anti-Imperialistic Self-Defense (2014) directed by Göran Hugo Olsson. ( @goranhugoolsson )

Based on Frantz Fanon’s essay ‘Concerning Violence’ from The Wretched of the Earth (1961), this is an archive-driven film that shook me.

Filmed with newly discovered Swedish TV archives of Africa’s liberation struggles in the 60s-70s (Angola, Mozambique, Burkina Faso with figures like Thomas Sankara, Amílcar Cabral ). It starts with a preface by Prof. Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak on Fanon and struggle for independence.

📌 Note: Reel is made from clips of the original film. All credits and source to the Concerning Violence film team.

Fanon’s argument that Colonialism itself is violence in its natural state, and decolonization is always a violent phenomenon. Olsson (@goranhugoolsson )makes you see it. The white colonists playing golf while resources are looted, alongside the brutal reality of anti-colonial resistance.

A must-watch. Have you watched it? I can’t believe I didn’t know of this until now.
