What an incredible experience to be invited to speak at the ABGH Nexus Conference with @blackingastro I’m still taking it all in: reconnecting with friends, meeting new ones, and learning so much from the programming. My notebook is full, and so is my heart.

I was especially moved by @k_jeanpierre Karine , former White House Press Secretary. Hearing her story and all she has accomplished, and continues to accomplish, was a powerful reminder to never let anyone define our worth or our abilities.

To the team behind Nexus, you put on an amazing conference. Well done, and thank you for having me 🥰

#ABGHNEXUS26 was OUTSTANDING ‼️ I can say this with my WHOLE chest and I missed a day! Transformative, inspiring, educational, emotional, fulfilling, thought-provoking, loving, unapologetically Black woman conceived and executed…I cannot say enough about what a blessing this conference was. I am so excited to put what I learned into action and really take a chance on me. You know you can always tell you’re on to something when the devil tries to thwart your progress 😏 Job well done to all who were apart of making this a success! Until next year 🤎

At NEXUS 2026, I asked Black women physicians to finish one simple sentence:

“Black women in medicine are ______.”

Different women. Different specialties. Different journeys. One incredible collective story. 🤎

I’m going to finish it off with my own:

Black women in medicine are LIMITLESS.

As I reflect on my Aunt Joan’s life (🕊️9.6.2004), I am always reminded of how deeply her legacy has molded the person I am today.

My aunt Joan had no biological children of her own, but she treated every child with love, respect and encouragement.

My professional journey has has given me space to pour into a variety of communities and their youth ranging from Tampa, Florida to the Bronx, NY to South Africa and beyond.

Our children matter, and when they are given the tools and time they can truly flourish.
My aunt gave me her time and her dedication and I aim to do the same with every young person that I come across.

Community Health means affordability, accessibility, and inclusivity. Here’s to many more decades of this work!

Kinda chic that The Wellness Cycle is going to Jamaica. 🇯🇲✨

We’re so excited to officially announce that our third Wellness Cycle will take place in Jamaica as we bring our work around menstrual health, education, confidence, and period care into the Caribbean.

A new country. A new community. The same mission: Periods with dignity, futures with promise.

Jamaica, we’re coming. 💕🌺

A TIME WAS HAD! A TIME WAS HAD! If you missed it, here’s a little something for the fomo. Same time next year? 😏

All these years later, the formula is still pretty much the same: lift something heavy, relax a little, then get to work. 😂💪🏾💻

We call it DREAMSCAPING. Taking the big dreams we’ve talked about for years and actually carving out the time to strategize, plan, build, and make them real.

A whirlwind of a day, but this is what friendship + ambition + a little delusion looks like. 😂✨

Story time: Meeting someone new? What do you do?

Growing up in NYC was a cool experience, the city moves fast and you have to keep up the pace. At about age 6 or 7, my mom taught me the “power handshake.” She would remind me constantly that no matter who I meet, no matter their title… look them in their eyes, give a firm, steady handshake and tell them my name. My mom said “it could be the pope or the president never be afraid, they are human like you! You’re a Jamaican!”

I’ve entered many different rooms in my life time and met a variety of people. Respect is paramount. The “power handshake” stays with me. Back in the day at a gala event at Terrace on The Park, I dined with Mariah Carey. I greeted her and gave my signature power handshake. Mariah was so sweet and offered to give autographs to the kids there.

When she signed my card, Mariah told me “I can keep the pen” ... being the nerd I am, I had a plethora of pens at home. So I looked back at her and said “no thank you somebody else could probably use it” 👀Mariah looked at me ... I looked back at her .. time froze . She was probably thinking “ I know this lil heffa did not” 🥴😂😂 I will never forget that moment.

My grandmother taught me not to worship false idols (on some Jamaican ish). Yeah you Mariah Carey, But you human like me sis😂😂 one of my funniest stories today.

Recently, I met some really cool celebrities and CEOs. However, what I looked for was their level of humanity and respect. How are you treating other people and how are your interactions? Do you have manners or are you pompous and stoosh? The title you have today, can be gone next week. My superpower is human connection, and everyone deserves to be acknowledged with dignity. #NYC #FionaVey #Lifestyle
