Congratulations to former #AppyLeague umpire Charlie Welling, who has been named a crew chief for @mlbazfallleague!

From @mlb: "Charlie Welling enters the AFL after spending this past season in Triple-A. In 2025, Welling was the home plate umpire for the All-Star Futures Game in Philadelphia. In 2026, he umpired his first Major League Spring Training and was named the crew chief of the International League Championship Series and continued on to the Triple-A National Championship game."

Welling was the first-base umpire for the 2021 Appalachian League Championship Game.

It’s the offseason in the #AppyLeague, but our clubs are as active as ever! From hosting gatherings and charity events at the ballpark to visiting career fairs and book drives in the community, to us, it’s about more than baseball.

Throughout September, Appalachian League clubs volunteered more than 400 hours and provided more than $260,000 in-kind! 💙⚾️

Okay, fall. We see you. 🍂

There’s a lot happening around Alamance this weekend, and it feels like the perfect time to get out of the house.

Markets, festivals, music, food and plenty of reasons to wander around the county. You’ll find them all on the Roundabout calendar.

If you go to one, tag us! We’ll be watching for your weekend adventures.

25 years later, we remember. We honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the bravery of the first responders, and the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom.

Never forget 🇺🇸
