A remarkable evening for Cosmogonia Reticulare. The 2026 Dallas Contemporary Gala raised a record-breaking $1.7 million for the museum, bringing together collectors, philanthropists, artists, curators, galleries, and cultural leaders from Dallas and around the world. When Ramiro Garcia invited me to contribute a work to the silent auction, I immediately thought of Cosmogonia Reticulare. The Latin American Revival theme felt like a natural fit for a sculpture so large, luminous, colorful, and rooted in ideas of movement, geometry, and connection. What happened next was something I could never have planned. Installed before the gala for the series of private dinners and events leading into the evening, the sculpture was suspended high in the center of the main room, beneath the bar and above the private dinner tables. Somehow, it found itself at the center of everything. That felt especially meaningful because Cosmogonia Reticulare explores the relationship between the microcosmic and the macrocosmic—the interconnected structures of the human body and the larger universe. Its networked geometry becomes a metaphor for connection: individual elements forming something greater than themselves. Around it was an extraordinary international constellation of contemporary art, with galleries including Perrotin, Galería OMR, Revolver Gallery, Anat Ebgi Gallery, Gagosian, Saenger Galería, Spinello Projects, and others. I’m deeply grateful to Ramiro Garcia, Catalina Gonzalez Jorba, Peter Augustus Owen, and the entire Dallas Contemporary team for creating such a memorable evening. Looking back, I’m struck by the sense of fate surrounding the sculpture. I contributed it because it felt right for the theme—and somehow it ended up suspended at the center of the room, surrounded by art and people from around the world. Sometimes you make the work, put it into the world, and something happens that you could never have imagined. This felt like one of those moments.

“What would you follow if there were no lines on your road?” That phrase is embedded in the concrete outside Pathways No. 1 at Emery Station East in Emeryville, CA. Funny backstory—when I first presented this project, the line was just a doodle scribbled in the margin of my notes. The committee saw it, loved it, and decided it belonged in the work. Now it’s part of the piece forever. This is Pathways No. 1 back in the studio—5’ x 10’ wood original that inspired the fiberglass edition now standing in California. #PathwaysNo1 #PublicArt #SculptureArt #LightArt #ContemporaryArt #DallasArtist #ArtCollector #ArtForSale #StudioShot #Emeryville DM for inquiries/ viewing
