Hip flexor update. Training for the Indiana Trail 100. Workouts didn’t agitate my hip flexor (right leg) or the muscles surrounding it. Only when I struck the ground doing knee ups that I felt pain in my hip flexor.
Tomorrow is another day. Just keep running.

Today marks the start of my training for the Philadelphia Marathon! 🏃‍♀️💙

This training cycle is about more than crossing another finish line. It’s about helping more girls discover their strength, confidence, and limitless potential through Girls on the Run.

If you know me, you know how passionate I am about this organization. Girls on the Run teaches so much more than running. It helps girls build confidence, develop resilience, make healthy choices, practice empathy, become leaders, and realize they are capable of achieving hard things—both on and off the course.

My goal this season is to raise enough money to sponsor at least 3 girls so they can participate in Girls on the Run, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Here’s how you can help:
🏅 Sponsor a marathon mile for $30.
💗 You’ll be recognized as my sponsor for that mile with a race day shout-out and a thank-you for helping give a girl the opportunity to experience Girls on the Run.

Let’s kick things off with Mile #1! Who wants to be my very first sponsor?

Whether you’re a friend, family member, local business, or someone who simply believes in investing in the next generation, I’d be honored to have you join me on this 26.2-mile journey.

Every mile we sponsor together helps change a girl’s future. Let’s do this! 💙💜

35 miles in, on my “how long will it take me to do 100 miles in normal life” journey. It has been 53 days.

Priorities have become many: miles on legs, logistics strategy, completion strategy (I made a few spreadsheets OF COURSE! IYKYK), training milestone planning, gym time on focused muscle groups, and NUTRITION. The engine. This body needs fuel. Gotta get my engine right. Sleep, fine. Injury, fine. Annoying conditions, fine. Hungry, dehydrated, drained, …. Granana guna come out!! 👹

10 October is two months away - that’s how I see it.

New big goal on the horizon. Inspired to act. Inspired to shed that which does not serve me. Make no mistake, for all of the equipment, logistics, and running I’ll do ahead of time, my mind will carrry me through it all. My capacity for it all will be on full display. It’s up to me to build that capacity, and only I have the power to do so. It’s inspiring and awesome how capable this brain is! Just awesome!

Grateful for my loved ones, friends, and community. Support, love, and encouragement.

It's because I love it.

I can say that about everything I do. I'm lucky that early on I was naive enough to believe my mom when she told me that I need to follow what I'm passionate about and the money will come. What I found to be true is: as I follow my passions, I become more capable and skilled to acquire money as a resource.

I ran my first running event when I was 12, and while I was there I was amazed by the spectacle of it all. All of these people gathered together in the same place, at the same time, and then we're all gonna run the same route. I was curious how all of that happened; how it all came together. Running Events, community conferences with my parents, and school activities are some of my earliest memories about how people gather. Fast forward to 39, and I weave the thread of events into everything I do. Whether it be the work I do at Mountains, my role with FIRST Robotics, running events, or business start up events, the way people gather continues to fascinate me as an instrument of community.

Ecosystem building was once a term I used quite frequently. As we move further and further away from covid, the term is creeping back up again as a focus of mine. There are infinite ways to honor the term, to embody the identity, and to approach the practice of ecosystem building. As I add the term to my focus and reflections, I’m reminded that I have continued to engage in the practice. Why? Because I love it.

One of my very favorite days of the year💕 There is nothing like GOTR & certainly no race that can match the joy of a GOTR 5k. In my 10 years of volunteering for GOTR I have seen how it impacts and changes girl’s lives. The confidence, joy, & relationship skills the program brings is phenomenal. The miles run with these girls are life changing. It allows them space to open up, to be vulnerable, to come to the end of what they think they can handle, & then realize they are so much more capable than what they believed. If you ever have the chance: volunteer, show up to a 5k, enroll your student, donate, this program is amazing! @gotrmichiana

Somewhere between the starting line and the finish line, she’s been learning what determination really looks like🩷🏃‍♀️

Every year with @gotrmichiana she’s worked to beat her last 5K time. This year she ran it in 25 minutes, dropping a whole minute and finishing 3rd overall 🥹

But more than the time or placement, we are so proud of her grit, heart, and determination to keep pushing herself.

Watching her cross that finish line so strong was just simply amazing ✨

Keep climbing Vivi girl 🩷
