Dear motorcycles, thank you for restoring my faith in mankind again. 🙏🏻

Another amazing weekend at @area27okanagan with @opptrackdays. Grateful for days like this, getting the opportunity to ride and meet the best people.

Making friends and making laps, it doesn’t get any better.

Monkey Wrench 2026

Start hill claimed another victim, happened to give me a dead last start. Felt one with the bike thanks to @gpmoto and ended up gaining 5 positions then getting stuck behind traffic for a couple km. Coming in to the pits and seeing the next one I needed, took off for a second lap.

Ran into some bike troubles again early that costed me my second lap (thanks to the sweeper that sacrificed the rest of his water to my bike:) she was thirsty) Regardless, making good progress ready to get out again.

Thanks to @pnwma.bcorcs for another great race, and always having people out there helping. And to my dad and awesome pit crew that got me out fast:)

Much like a rear shock, cartridge rod displacement has a huge effect on fork feel. On a tight single-track woods loop, fork shaft speeds are relatively low, giving the damping system time to manage the displaced oil volume and pressure in the upper chamber or subtank. Now compare that to Jett charging downhill into braking bumps — same fork, completely different conversation.

This is also why cartridge rod diameter matters. A KYB using a 12.5 mm rod displaces less oil than a Showa using a 14 mm rod. At the same shaft speed, the larger rod creates more displacement, which can create pressure faster.

Ultimately, pressure is what the rider feels. The fork doesn’t know ‘stiff’ or ‘soft’ — it only knows pressure, flow, and time. Our job as tuners is understanding why that pressure is being created.

I learn stuff from @gpmoto all the time. This one came up during a conversation I’m having with a member on the True Tech Community (link in bio.) it’s often difficult to know if the changes tuners are making are netting positive or negative. I now have a better understanding of this fork!
