i think Miss Animal might be my best as a director so far 🐾

this project fully introduces me as an energy

from the song being a reclamation after it’s theft in Paris,
to this clip that makes me so happy in the outfit i designed for myself, to the location scouting,
to translating something as iconic as animal print into my own language.
the whole visual is jam packed with color, freedom, and expression.

doing my best not to turn every frame into a .gif and spam you guys lolll. @gr3nuda._ did such an incredibleeee job capturing everything 💘

𝘼𝙮 𝙋𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙟𝙞𝙩𝙤 🚬🚭 We always tell my dad that he needs to write a book because the stories of his childhood in the ranch and his experiences as an immigrant in California are too interesting not to share.

Here’s one of my favorite moments of my trip to Mexico. We had been on a walk/hike and then decided to make our way to the 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘢 to have a few beers and some tequila. This is him telling us about the time his dad caught him smoking at 12, and he doesn’t know how, but even in complete darkness, my grandpa was able to recognize his silhouette and notice the light of the cigarette. Even though he tried to put the cigarette in his pocket and run away, my grandpa had already brushed him with the machete…

Yeah, he didn’t have the most loving or affectionate father and the details in his stories always help us understand him more and more. I still remember being home for one day on a work trip, and while we were sitting at a restaurant, I came up behind him and hugged him super tight and gave him a kiss on the cheek. It was like something snapped, and he just started crying. I think it was a combination of him missing me but also the fact that affection was not something he had really received from his dad and there we were, breaking those cycles and helping his heart heal a tiny bit ❤️‍🩹 My dad ain’t perfect, but I’m grateful that he’s become more affectionate and a little softer.

Forever grateful for little moments like these 💕Take me back!

Finally here, in the motherland! 🇲🇽Words can’t describe how happy I am right now. Strangely, I haven’t cried but it’s coming 💕💕💕

We spent our first day in Xochimilco, as per my request, bc I hadn’t been there since I was about 8. We spent three hours eating, laughing, dancing and drinking and I was in heaven 🇲🇽💕🥰

Until next time, familia! Never letting so much time pass between visits - my heart can’t handle it! I needed this trip, needed to see my parents in their new home, my sisters with their gatos 🐈, and catch up with my friends & extended family. Thank you to everyone who made time to see me and sorry to those I couldn’t see!

I don’t care what you choose to believe but I was at my little sister’s graduation! So proud of you baby, congratulations! Can’t believe you’re all grown up now and headed to college!
