A true legend of professional wrestling the great @gr8gamasingh Gama Singh Ji. 🇮🇳🇨🇦🙏🧿👳‍♀️

Had the honour of meeting him backstage at ASW. A major attraction of the legendary Stampede Wrestling era of the ’70s and ’80s, Gama was one of wrestling’s most memorable heels at a time when audiences still believed what they saw inside the ring was real.

He wrestled internationally, spent years in WWF, and led the formidable Karachi Vice stable, remaining one of the circuit’s top attractions well into the late 90s before eventually retiring in 2010.

His legacy continued through his family, including his son Raj Singh, and his nephew, former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. The Singh family’s journey was also chronicled in the documentary ‘Singhs in the Ring.’

A remarkable man who carried India, Punjab and Canada onto the global wrestling stage. Meeting a pioneer of this magnitude was an absolute honour and a genuinely proud moment.

Beyond the ring, the real championship was the brotherhood. 🤼‍♂️✨
Long after the Stampede Wrestling days in Calgary, the bond between my dad (Bad News Allen), his best friend "Champagne" Gerry Morrow, and Great Gama Singh remained unbroken. All three shared history in the ring, made Calgary their home, and kept that close connection for a lifetime.
From battling in the squared circle to staying in touch through every chapter of life, they proved that true family goes way beyond wrestling. Forever grateful for these Stampede legends! ❤️

Wrist check in honor of this week’s guest, @themaharaja. Killer episode. This banger of a song comes up as the former Stampede Wrestling entrance music for his team with @truerajsingh as the new Karachi Vice. Loved working with those guys.

Find the episode in the links in the bio.

FYC: Have a look at the creative process behind the Canadian Academy Award nominated score and soundtrack @singhsinthering

We brought two worlds together. I’m so proud of this one, and want to bring it home to honour @gr8gamasingh and the late @therealsunnysidhu

SWIPE RIGHT to hear some of the awesome soundtrack for SINGHS IN THE RING. The original music in our documentary truly packs a punch. Gagan Singh fused elements of cinematic orchestra, Punjabi harmoniums and percussion, old western, 80’s synth, meditative and soulful vibrations, and full on bombastic battle music. The film weaves together themes of hardship, triumph, love, loss, cultural identity, sport, choice, and most of all… family.

We’re honoured to be nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for original music. I am so proud of everyone’s hard work on this film - producers, editors, cinematographer, colourist, and all involved. Shoutout to the late great Sunny Sidhu - this one’s for you!
