After the graffiti clean up, I dried off the top of the Ship’s Prow to give this definitely-not-a-linkup-perfect-rock-quality-not-choss line that Andrew put up earlier this year. I used slightly different beta to avoid a hold that seemed like it would break if I looked at it wrong and somehow managed to keep it together through the crux and make it through the last deadpoint!

We had the chance to check out Army Rawks for the first time last night, which is home to some really sick boulders! Despite only climbing for about 45 seconds total for 25min of hiking, this area will be sick to return to (preferably in the fall).

Now, for your irregularly scheduled vulnerability. Although I was happy with this flash, stress from life led to me immediately breaking down in tears once I dropped down from the finish jug. I’m grateful to Grace for always supporting me, not just for hiking (getting lost) in the woods to support me and not even climb, but also in every aspect of my life. I’m also grateful that climbing can be a source of fulfillment and a way to connect with new and old friends.

The grafitti clean up was greatly successful! Several volenteers each worked tirelessly for around 4 hours each, scrubbing, spraying, rinsing, snd scrubbing some more!

Before an after photos can be found somewhere in this post after the photos of all the helpful climbers!

The removal spray costs around $30 for two bottles. Brushes, gloves, pump sprayers, and rags brought the total to around $100. If you weren't able to contribute in person, please feel free to donate on our website! You donations help fun projects like this, as well as bolt replacement, trail maintenance, and other tasks that keep our climbing areas clean, safe, and sustainable.

Of course, climbing was done after!

The first 2 clips are from a ~V5(?) dyno I did a couple years ago during our first trip here. The second part is something between V4-6 on Becky’s wall. It definitely felt tough with all the holds covered in mud and spider webs, but it was a really fun line!

@riverrockrva Boulder Bash 2026 🤩

Going into this event with the sole hope of not getting last, I broke my streak of bad Q1 performances by almost topping it, and I managed to get my FIRST EVER riverrock top on Q2 to qualify for finals.
-
With my expectations already blown completely out of the water. I turned around to preview the finals route and witnessed, to my great horror, crimps. The zone 4 hold was so much worse than I even expected it to be, so I dusted off my comp brain to pioneer beta to completely skip the crimp. With 2 years of focusing on outdoors, the fistjam felt like an absolute bucket, and I was able to achieve a 4th place finish. I still can’t believe it.

These rare moments where I can truly express myself on the wall are what I strive for. I have so many people to thank for the support this weekend but most of all to @grace.j.chan for being the best cheerleader I could ever ask for.

Also, congrats to everyone who competed, especially @joewgoodacre, @dannykolman_, @kevin.salami, and @aamiagado for filling out the rest of the podium! It was an absolute honor to climb with you! Finally, thank you so much to Tracey, Joan, the setters, MCs, DJ, photographers (cover photo by @drewerd_), and volunteers for always working so hard to make this an unforgettable event! 🦍
