Looking forward to find my running legs for the next races. Slow build back from injury. Here we come 😝.

This is not the post I had planned. It may sound stupid, but this whole year I had been fantasizing about this one Instagram post I would make in December. This was supposed to be my BMW Half Marathon post. I was supposed to be smiling, holding my medals, with my sub 1:20 PR; a symbol that no matter what life throws at me I come back stronger. Life had other plans.

Though this year has not gone even slightly how I wanted, it was still a pivotal year. So instead, I’m focusing this post on every bright light in my life that kept me going this year. At times, it felt impossible to stay positive. I watched my life stray further and further from the montage I had planned in my head. At times, it felt useless to even try when so little was in my control. I had to learn that the only thing I can control is my perspective. I refuse to let this be a wasted year. This was a year of growth, patience, healing, and gratitude. Just because I didn’t reach the deadline I set for myself doesn’t mean it’s over. There’s still a long road ahead of me before I can consider myself healthy or “back to normal” but I refuse to give up. Someday this year will be a memory and I’ll be grateful I never gave up.

Thank you to have everyone who has supported me this year. To my amazing teammates, friends, coaches, and support system in South Dakota, I miss you all so much. Thank you for your understanding when I could not be there. Thank you for checking on me. Thank you for listening. Thank you for making me feel seen from across the country.

Though I didn’t end this year with any crazy race results for validation, I chose to believe in myself nonetheless. I know what I am capable of and I will not stop working until I achieve it. I do not need any medals or chip times to believe I am worthy or strong, I already am those things. Thank you to God for guiding me through all the challenges this year. Through every disappointment I faced this year, I learned something new. I will not let this knowledge and growth go to waste. Though I may not be physically stronger yet, I am mentally stronger. I will not stop working until I am both. Can’t wait to be back ❤️ #goyotes
