From the very beginning, @uatvnews has been more than just a student newsroom to me,it’s been a journey of growth, resilience, and unforgettable memories.
I started at the bottom as a freshman volunteer, eager to learn and willing to do whatever it took to be part of something bigger than myself. By sophomore year, I stepped into the role of sports anchor, where I also had the opportunity to create something truly special🐴RODEO RECAPS on @thesportsadvantage This segment became my passion project, allowing me to highlight and educate others about the western industry and the sport of rodeo, something so close to my heart.
Junior year, I served as both a main anchor and taking on roles as a reporter and producer. Long days turned into even longer nights filled with writing scripts, chasing stories, conducting interviews, and constantly striving to improve. And now, senior year, I’ve had the honor of serving as a paid executive staff member while continuing as a main anchor and sports reporter—something freshman me could have only dreamed of.
From countless stories to lessons learned in and out of the newsroom, this chapter has officially come to a close. But what I’ll cherish most are the people. The friends, the mentors, the late-night laughs, the shared stress, and the moments that made it all worth it. I truly believe UATV is filled with some of the most talented and genuine people on this earth, and I’m endlessly grateful to have worked alongside each of you.
A special thank you to my hometown bestie, @kennedyyssmith none of this would have been the same without you by my side through it all.
Every week, I’m in awe watching my fellow journalists achieve incredible things, earning awards and stepping into exciting opportunities. And now, with just one week left before we receive the degrees we’ve worked so hard for, we’re all preparing to go our separate ways—moving across the country to chase new dreams. Whether it’s on-air entertainment, sports, political reporting, or producing, I know each and every one of you will continue to make a powerful impact. Thank you, UATV for shaping me into the journalist and person I am today. 💕
