They host fashion shows? At the V&A? Enjoy our faux-serious frontrow-fashionista faces (don’t think gossip girl ever saw a dress as pretty as Emma’s though). Have you heard of the @vamuseum’s Fashion in Motion series? Just over a week ago, they hosted @sjodwyer’s catwalk on July 24th, with movement directed by @gracebnicol and a live performance from @jeanieandthewhiteboys in the middle of it all. I can’t promise every show would be quite like this one, but I’d definitely recommend checking out future listings to anyone curious about fashion, & excited by the V&A’s aims of making an intimate catwalk experience accessible to more people. As a wheelchair user I was nervous travelling somewhere new (& thought we’d arrived at the wrong entrance when I saw the gorgeous steps. Only to realise there’s a gently sloping ramp built in seamlessly behind them) but I was really impressed! I’m hoping to talk more about it in a future post, but highlights included further integrated ramps within the building, & being asked to arrive a few minutes before the show started so we could be led in first and place my chair alongside one of the benches before the room filled up (and without becoming exhausted in a long queue). While I believe they used to be free, the events are still low-cost (£10 standard entry & £5 concession for disabled ticket holders, with free +1 available at point of sale) so do sign up to their mailing list for updates if you too would like to pretend to be mean in selfies all day (and then immediately take another 3 giggling at how serious you look). If you notice me doing an increased amount of both sewing & posing in the near future, you’ll know when I was inspired ✨ -Shoutout @emmmasometimes for being my front row buddy & wearing a dress that matched the tickets 🌸 ID: the post begins with a photo of Sakara, a white person with long brown hair, sat outside the ornate entrance of the V&A museum using her wheelchair with bright yellow smiley face wheel covers. The rest of the slides include two videos from inside the fashion show, held in one of the galleries where paintings are still hung and the walls are painted a rich blue. (Cont. in comments) A white person wearing a light green skirt and top sits outside the V&A museum in London using their wheelchair which has smiley faces on the wheel covers.
