I left my job at JOAN yesterday for the last time. I started my time there as a project manager with a brain tumor. They supported me through my surgery, my recovery and into remission. I grew into a senior level role, and I left as a director. In my time there, I learned, I failed, I failed again, I learned some more, but most importantly, I met the absolute best people in the world. Some of which who have become my closest friends. Not only are they fun, they are the most intelligent and wildly creative folks around. I never felt like the smartest person in the room, and that’s just how I like it. I need to be challenged, and challenge me they did. Grateful doesn’t do justice to how I feel. . Truly. This wasn’t just a job to me. My heart is so, so full. I’m sad, of course, but I’m so excited to take everything that I’ve learned into my next adventure. But even more than that, I’m so happy to have a massive group of amazing, wonderful, magical people to hold my hand as I do that. I. AM. SO. LUCKY.
