Jersey Girlie Takeover Episode 2 👏🏾👏🏾

Courts empanadas has a returning customer! This is my second time visiting and everything was just as good as I remember. Can’t forget to add it’s black woman-owned. From her home kitchen to a storefront, Courtney still uses the techniques that her grandmother taught her growing up. I ordered sweet heat shrimp , veggie, and honey jerk chicken. These empanadas were stuffed to perfection and had so much flavor. Check out their menu and try their dessert empanada of the month: Peaches & Kreme.

FLOWERS. We can’t always control how the flowers will grow or the air of their environment, but we can definitely control the soil. The Play Cousins (Camille) came together to give Flowers to the Women, who sustain and nurture us on a daily basis and buttress our Community and Culture.

Concrete. Raised beds. Tilled. Adopted Lots. 40+ acres of pure Joy.

To all the Women: Thank You.

We closed out August with Craft & Convos: Reimagining Nature -3D Landscape Art Series! 🤩

We hosted 2 workshops, and 1 installation + expressive activity day to honor all of the artwork created by the local Newark community during the workshops!

The program was directed, and facilitied by @artbysungod 🎨
In collaboration with @forstrugglingcreatives 🚛 mobile studio called the Creative Space, and held in Harriet Tubman Square with @newarkcityparks 🌳

We hope everyone that was a part of this experience enjoyed it as much as we did! It was a pleasure to bring something new, sustainable, and exciting to Newark City Parks. We feel like we gained a new found love, and connection to a part of the community that we haven’t touched before. For that, we’re grateful!

See you at the next Craft & Convos! ✨
